'Hip-pop Princess' has crossed 150 million cumulative views on social media, signaling a rise in popularity.
Mnet 'Unpretty Rapstar: Hip-pop Princess' (hereafter 'Hip-pop Princess') is a Korea-Japan joint survival show aimed at creating a new global hip-hop group, where contestants participate directly in every process — music, choreography, styling, and video production — showcasing their own colors. Each episode delivers high-quality stages and a parade of characters that prompt fans to become devoted, and viewers have poured out praise such as "the best skill among survival shows ever," "the charm is insane," and "they have the skills to debut right now."
Fans are adding their support with comments and views. The cumulative social media (YouTube·TikTok·Instagram·X combined) views have also surpassed 150 million, proving interest. The enthusiasm continues to the point that there are 36 pieces of content with more than 1 million views.
The team dissing battle, labeled the 'hip-hop sprout' style that fully captures hip-hop colors, is also drawing attention. As a mission that evaluates team performance based on rap technique, wit, and creativity, the stages that captured the show's distinctive lively charm provoked explosive reactions. In particular, the Reels video posted on the official Instagram account previewed an uncompromising dissing battle scene and surpassed 4.53 million views, recording the program's highest view count.
Korean and Japanese producers have also contributed to driving popularity. The four main producers — Soyeon, Gaeko, Riehata, and Iwata Takanori — have each shown their presence every episode, playing the role of seasoning effectively. The 'Do my thang' challenge video featuring Riehata and Iwata Takanori exceeded 1.65 million Reels views and became a hot topic on social media. The 'Smoke' video by guest judge Bada also surpassed 1.4 million Reels views, and the appearance of Sota from Japanese popular artist BE:FIRST, who participated as a special trainer, drew strong interest.
The production team said, "The contestants are showing their own stages each episode and growing further," and added, "We would appreciate your warm support as you follow the journey to the birth of a new global group," asking for continued expectation and interest in the remaining journey.
'Hip-pop Princess,' which is heating up with each episode, airs every Thursday at 9:50 p.m. (KST) on Mnet, and is available in Japan through U-NEXT.<
