Actor Lee Seung-gi expressed his feelings about losing a great elder of the entertainment industry at the funeral wake for the late Lee Soon-jae.
On the 25th, Lee Seung-gi visited the late Lee Soon-jae's wake set up at Asan Medical Center's funeral hall in Songpa-gu, Seoul, to pay his respects.
Lee Seung-gi said, "I knew that the teacher's condition was worsening," and "Earlier this year when his health suddenly declined, my wife and I visited him in the hospital. We talked quietly and spent time together, and I think that was at least a relief."
He continued, "Even though the teacher was ill, he wanted to show us that he was healthy and escorted us to the elevator. That image is vivid in my mind. The teacher officiated our wedding and when I urgently asked him to appear on 'Big Family' he said, 'If Seung-gi is doing it, I'll do it,' so that makes this hurt even more," he said.
Lee Seung-gi added, "The teacher was someone I respected and we had a special relationship. I believe he went to a good place. It is an honor that the teacher acted as an actor, and I think his juniors will carry on his spirit and continue to do well and diligently."
In particular, Lee Seung-gi conveyed his heavy feelings about the late Lee Soon-jae, saying, "I hope that there he can put everything down and be at ease. I hope only happy things happen for him there."
Lee Soon-jae once drew attention as the officiant for the wedding of Lee Seung-gi and Lee Da-in. At the time, Lee Soon-jae advised the couple, "Love each other actively and vigorously. Do it five times a week. If you lose energy you can't do it. Live actively. I hope the two of you march strongly toward the same goals."
Meanwhile, Lee Soon-jae's funeral procession will be held at 6:20 a.m. on the 27th. The burial site is Eden Paradise in Icheon.
