Actor Choi Hyun-wook visited the funeral wake of the late Lee Soon-jae and choked up with emotion.
Choi Hyun-wook visited the late Lee Soon-jae's wake set up at Asan Medical Center's funeral hall in Songpa District, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 25th to pay his respects.
Wearing a black puffer jacket and a black mask, Choi Hyun-wook met with reporters after paying his respects, and when asked, "How did you come to the wake?" — a question about his connection to the deceased — he faltered and then opened up, saying, "I just wanted to see him once. I just really wanted to see him once."
He added, "(I heard the sad news early in the morning) and I felt so bad," and for a while was unable to answer, looking down at the floor as emotion welled up.
When asked, "What did you say at the wake? How do you personally remember the teacher?" Choi Hyun-wook, who briefly could not continue speaking, said, "I hope he rests in peace," and added, "I saw him on video from the awards ceremony performing on the theater stage. I just felt so bad. I never had the chance to meet him," choking up.
Finally, Choi Hyun-wook said, "I hope he lived happily in heaven, truly," and, "I truly hope he lived happily," wiping his eyes as he left the wake.
According to the bereaved family, the late Lee Soon-jae passed away early today (the 25th). He was 91.
The late man's wake was set up in Room 30 of Asan Medical Center's funeral hall. The funeral procession will be at 6:20 a.m. on the 27th, and the burial site is Eden Paradise in Icheon.
