Entrance exam YouTuber Mimiminuu (real name Kim Min-woo) personally apologized for the sudden bankruptcy of a company that advertised using his face.
On the 25th, Mimiminuu uploaded a video to his YouTube channel titled "Apologies for the bankruptcy of 'Part-Time Study' and the delay in deposit refunds."
On that day, Mimiminuu began, "Hello, this is Mimiminuu. The 'Part-Time Study' service that advertised on my channel filed for bankruptcy suddenly and without any notice on Monday, Nov. 24, and many people are currently unable to get their deposits refunded, so I turned on the camera to personally convey my position and the steps I will take in response."
'Part-Time Study' is a reward-style study app in which users deposit a certain amount of money as a deposit and, if they achieve the set study time goal, receive their deposit back with an additional prize. Previously, Mimiminuu collaborated with the company and ran advertisements featuring his face.
However, because the company filed for bankruptcy suddenly without prior notice, existing users are also at risk of not being able to get back the deposits they had placed.
In response, Mimiminuu said, "To get to the conclusion first, I will formally deliver the full amount of advertising fees I received and additional funds to the victims so that those who are losing sleep and suffering now will have at least some support as they face a difficult fight going forward." He said he would fulfill his moral responsibility because there are a significant number of users who trusted him and used the app.
He explained, "From June of last year to October of this year, during discussions about advertising on two occasions, I met the company representative in person and thoroughly reviewed as much material as possible, but I too only learned on the day of the bankruptcy after receiving a sudden e-mail that the signs of worsening management had been hidden from even internal directors up until just before the bankruptcy."
He continued, "To explain the specific situation to viewers, I repeatedly tried to contact the representative and staff, but ultimately could not reach them, and I believed it was right for at least me to take responsibility as quickly as possible for viewers who trusted my channel and used the service." He bowed his head and said, "As soon as this video is made public, I will contact the victims and deliver the promised amounts as quickly as possible with accurate documentation. I apologize sincerely once again. I am sorry."
Meanwhile, Mimiminuu is a popular entrance exam YouTuber with 1.89 million subscribers. Since last year, he has appeared not only on internet broadcasts but also on a variety of entertainment programs, expanding his activities as a regular panelist on Channel A Teachers (Teachers), TV CHOSUN exchange-wassuda, and "My way - overimmersion club," among others.
