The group SEVENTEEN entered Tiny Desk, NPR Music's popular program.
SEVENTEEN members Joshua, Mingyu, Seungkwan, Vernon and Dino appeared on SEVENTEEN: Tiny Desk Concert, posted on NPR Music's YouTube channel on the 24th (local time), and delivered about 30 minutes of live performance.
Tiny Desk is a live series of small-scale concerts that lets listeners focus on the music itself. Taylor Swift, Coldplay, Billie Eilish and Sabrina Carpenter, among other global musicians, have visited. SEVENTEEN, the first K-pop group to perform in the NPR headquarters office in Washington, D.C., demonstrated their status as a global top-tier artist.
Opening with SEVENTEEN's signature song "SONOKONG," the members staged a setlist covering their 10-year history. They showcased a wide spectrum of charms with songs ranging from the intensely energetic "Clap" and "HOT," and "SOS (Prod. Marshmello)," to the mellow "_WORLD," "Darl+ing," the refreshing "Rock with you" and the lyrical "Whirlpool."
Their status as performance masters, proven by numerous world tours, also shone through. The members rode the rhythm freely and impressed with flawless live vocals. When they took requests from the audience on the spot and sang "HBD," drawing cheers, it revealed the polish of an 11-year artist. New arrangements and dynamic band playing added to the listening enjoyment.
The audience watching the stage responded with unrestrained group singing and cheers. Carat lightsticks and placards were spotted throughout the office. The final number was "Very NICE," SEVENTEEN's trademark encore song. The members actively interacted with the audience to raise the excitement, and long cheers continued even after the song ended.
SEVENTEEN said they were happy to appear on a program they usually enjoy watching and noted, We expected a calmer, quieter atmosphere since it's an actual office singing performance, but it really feels like a concert venue. We never imagined this reaction at Tiny Desk. Thanks to everyone, we had a wonderful time. Thank you.
SEVENTEEN is meeting global fans by holding SEVENTEEN WORLD TOUR [NEW_] in major regions around the world. Having previously set Incheon Asiad Main Stadium, Hong Kong Kai Tak Stadium and five North American cities ablaze, they will begin a four-dome tour of Japan on the 27th. The concerts start at Vantelin Dome Nagoya and continue to Kyocera Dome Osaka, Tokyo Dome and Fukuoka PayPay Dome.
