Actor Bae Jeong-nam mourned the late Lee Soon-jae.
On the 25th Bae Jeong-nam paid tribute, saying, "Teacher Lee Soon-jae, I respectfully pray for the deceased's happiness in the next world. It was the greatest honor of my life to be able to work together with a teacher I so deeply respect. Rest in peace, teacher."
According to the bereaved family, Lee Soon-jae passed away in the early morning of the 25th. He was 91.
Born in Hoeryong, Hamgyeongbuk Province in 1934, Lee Soon-jae debuted in theater in 1956 with the play "Beyond the Horizon" and later appeared in dramas such as "Donguibogam", "See and See Again", "The Three Kims Era", "Men of the Bathhouse", "The Rustic Era", "Toji", "Samo-gok", "Heo Jun", "Sangdo", "Lee San", "High Kick Without Hesitation", "High Kick Through the Roof", and "Nonsense", as well as in plays such as "Long Life Market", "Grandpa Henri and I", "King Lear", and "Waiting for Godot".
Notably, Lee Soon-jae, who briefly entered politics as a 14th-term member of the National Assembly (Democratic Liberal Party), became the oldest ever grand prize winner at the KBS Drama Awards last year.
He worked with Bae Jeong-nam in "Nonsense." Bae Jeong-nam voiced the retired police dog Sophie and worked with Lee Soon-jae, and last year at the KBS Drama Awards he and Yeon-woo won the best couple award together.
