Group VVUP collaborated with Phuong Vu, a Vietnamese director who is the hottest in the industry.
VVUP (Kim, Paen, Suyeon, Jiyun) released their first mini album 'VVON' on the 20th, and Phuong Vu drew attention by directing the music video for the title track 'Super Model'.
Phuong Vu, considered a leading creator of Vietnam's Generation Z, has rapidly expanded her influence by producing visual campaigns for many brands including Vietnam Airlines and Samsung, and by participating in Apple's "Shot On iPhone" campaign.
Known for her original directing style, Phuong Vu is famous for creating unique visual beauty by showing a spectrum that transcends genre limits, freely combining different expressive elements such as traditional culture, street sensibility, pop culture and surreal images.
This is Phuong Vu's first time producing a music video for a K-pop group, and the 'Super Model' music video unfolds a fantasy worldview that crosses reality and illusion with a distinctive aesthetic, winning enthusiastic responses from music fans. VVUP conveys a fateful narrative of becoming a super model after fierce competition.
Following their pre-debut single 'Doo Doom Chit', for which they worked with U.S. director Hannah Lux Davis—who has collaborated with Doja Cat, Ariana Grande, Anne-Marie, Nicki Minaj & Ice Spice—VVUP continued to collaborate with world-class directors, including this time Phuong Vu, leading cultural trends including K-pop in the global market.
VVUP's first mini album 'VVON' is a title completed by combining the three words 'VIVID', 'VISION' and 'ON', carrying the meaning "the moment the light turns on." Pronounced it resembles 'Born' and in spelling it is similar to 'Won,' through which VVUP unfolds a narrative of being born, awakening and overcoming, once again stamping their singular presence.
