Actor Mu Jin-seong once again set a new standard for a "life villain" with boundless acting and shook living rooms intensely.
In episodes 13 and 14 of the tvN weekend drama Typhoon Family (directed by Lee Na-jung·Kim Dong-hwi, written by Jang Hyun, planned by Studio Dragon, produced by Imaginus·Studio PIC·Tris Studio) broadcast on the 22nd and 23rd, Mu Jin-seong exploded with villainous charm as the villain Pyo Hyun-jun and displayed overwhelming presence.
In that broadcast, when Pyo Hyun-jun lost to Kang Tae-poong (played by Lee Jun-ho) in a bid, he even deliberately set fire to a storage area of surgical gloves and exploded with uncontrollable rage. Because of the arson, Typhoon Family faced difficulty meeting the delivery deadline promised to the Public Procurement Service, and as the opportunity was about to pass to the second-ranked company Pyo Sang-seon, Kang Tae-poong personally bowed his head to ask for the glove sales, but Pyo Hyun-jun instead raised viewers' anger to a peak with a mocking attitude.
Then Pyo Hyun-jun discovered that his father Pyo Bak-ho (played by Kim Sang-ho) had secretly signed a contract with Kang Tae-poong and, unable to control his emotions, exploded. He tried to get his father's acknowledgment with tears, but what returned was more comparisons and reproach. Ultimately overcome by unbearable rage, he committed even more brutal acts and delivered a great shock to viewers at home.
Mu Jin-seong portrayed the "sense of defeat" of having been beaten again by a rival, the "vengefulness" he could not let go of, and the "inner fracture" longing for his father's love in an unpredictable flow, raising the drama's tension to a peak. Especially in the scene where he confesses his true feelings to his father, he left a heavy impression by delicately expressing tears mixed with anger, trembling eyes and unsteady breathing.
Thus Mu Jin-seong is writing a new standard for villains by showing a different level of viciousness each episode through twisted and distorted competitiveness. With only two episodes left until the drama ends, attention is focused on what kind of explosive performance Mu Jin-seong will use next to shake viewers' emotions.
Meanwhile, Typhoon Family airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9:10 p.m. on tvN.
