Actress Kim Yong-rim recounted the circumstances that led her to surrender her driver's license at her daughter's urging.
On the 22nd, the MBN variety show "Sokpuri Show Dongchimi" featured actors Lee Yeon-su and Jung Han-yong, among others, who appeared to have an honest conversation on the topic "Is getting old a crime?" On that day Kim Yong-rim opened up about why she recently surrendered her driver's license and expressed regret.
Kim Yong-rim said, "I used to like driving. But once you pass eighty, the children tell you not to drive, and in reality there weren't many opportunities to drive," she began. She continued, "There are times I feel upset or suddenly want to go out. The gym is a 10-minute walk, but it's awkward to walk, so sometimes I want to drive. But the children say, 'Return it because your reflexes are declining,' and that made me so sad," she confessed.
She went on, "Before I went to surrender it, I asked a friend and they said, 'If you return it they give you a transportation card with 100,000 won on it.' I didn't want to ask my daughter because I was afraid she'd scold me, so I went to the community center alone," and "When I went, they really gave me the transportation card," she said, drawing laughter.
Upon hearing this, Lee Hong-ryeol showed interest, asking, "Do they give it once a month?" and "Until what age can you hold out?", and Kim Yong-man said, "You don't have to return it."
Kim Tae-hoon also explained, "You don't have to (return it). There's no compulsion," and Kim Yong-man joked, "Are you worried they'll take it away?", drawing laughter.
Meanwhile, Kim Yong-rim, born in 1940 and turning 85 this year, recently shared on "Sokpuri Show Dongchimi" the painful story that after the death of her husband, the late Nam Il-woo, she was so distressed that she experienced auditory hallucinations, eliciting viewers' sympathy.<
