MONSTA X's Jooheon met his former high school teacher and was moved to tears.
On the 21st a video titled "Did Shim-cheong burst into tears after meeting a fan in their 70s? | Kind errand center Shim-cheong" was released on the YouTube channel "Nakta Jeonyongdoro."
That day Jooheon met the client after receiving a request that read, "Please give a special day to a father who is a 70-year-old Monbebe (official fan club name) and a 'honeyplef'." The client explained, "My father retired not long ago and now works as an elementary school safety officer," and "He watches MONSTA X videos a lot. Because dad kept watching, mom started watching beside him and gradually the whole family became Monbebe."
Jooheon said, "I have to do well. I will have a good time with your father today." He bought a scarf as a gift and ran through simulations of how to greet him, arriving at the meeting place excited, but was left speechless and surprised when he finally saw the fan. The 70-year-old Monbebe, the client's father, turned out to be Jooheon's high school teacher.
At the teacher's voice calling his name, Jooheon's eyes immediately reddened and he eventually showed tears. Jooheon confessed, "I didn't expect it," and said, "The client said, 'My father is a 70-year-old Monbebe and he is my biggest fan,' but when I saw the teacher I wondered, 'Did I see wrong?' The emotion welled up."
The teacher recalled Jooheon's high school days. "I remember Jooheon calling the manager to ask permission to be sent to school. His dimple is exactly the same as back then," the teacher said, expressing affection for Jooheon. The teacher added, "I remember him struggling. I wondered, 'Is it because he practiced and came back tired?' but he seemed worn out and yearning."
The teacher also recalled Jooheon sleeping at school because he came early to avoid being late from practicing late into the night. Jooheon said, "I was able to graduate school thanks to the teachers. Because of practice I missed attendance and wondered, 'Why should I go to school?' but they guided me well," and added, "I'm so grateful I could graduate from the great Hyundai High School. Looking back, I understand now."
Later Jooheon said he was moved that the teacher came and soon visited his alma mater with the teacher to reminisce. While touring the school, Jooheon repeatedly thanked the teacher, saying, "This is truly a great encouragement."
Finally Jooheon said, "When I heard the voice that called me 'Lee Hojun' in the second year of high school just as it was, tears suddenly burst out and I couldn't even greet properly. I am really, really thankful," and vowed, "Seeing my younger self brought tears. With this kind of power I gained today, I can work even harder."
Meanwhile, "Kind errand center—Shim-cheong," which Jooheon hosts as sole MC, can be seen every Friday on the YouTube channel "Nakta Jeonyongdoro." MONSTA X, the group Jooheon belongs to, released the U.S. digital single "baby blue" on the 14th and will join the 2025 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour, starting at New York's Madison Square Garden on Dec. 12 (local time), performing in a total of four cities.
