Actor Cha Hyun-seung shared his daily life during a second round of chemotherapy.
On the 22nd, a video titled "Damage that increases as chemotherapy cycles pass" was uploaded to Cha Hyun-seung's YouTube channel.
That day Cha Hyun-seung was admitted to the hospital for his second round of chemotherapy. He said, "It's boring and tedious. My eyebrows used to be very thick, but they've fallen out a lot. They look full on camera, but in reality they're very sparse." As time passed, Cha Hyun-seung said he was having a hard time, "It's been about two hours since the chemo and I have a terrible headache and severe nausea, so I just got a painkiller and took it. I'll get better, right?"
But then he complained of pain, saying, "The headache is getting worse and the nausea is severe, so I'm breaking out in a cold sweat. I checked my blood sugar and they said it's normal. The meal came out but my stomach is in such bad shape that I can't eat." In addition, Cha Hyun-seung drew sympathy by appearing to suffer from pain throughout the night.
He continued chemotherapy the next day, and Cha Hyun-seung vowed, "This chemo drug seems to cause worse headaches and nausea. I'm worried about how bad it will be after the infusion, but I have to do it. Fighting." He then struggled with recurring pain, saying, "The headache and nausea are so bad that I don't think I can eat the meal that came out. I feel like I'm going to vomit," and that night he said, "I was in so much pain all night and broke out in so much cold sweat that I changed everything because it felt gross."
After finishing chemotherapy, Cha Hyun-seung was discharged, but his counts dropped and he had to be re-hospitalized. Cha Hyun-seung said, "My platelet count is low, and you know those suction cups they use for ECGs? Even from light use, I bruise very easily like this. I hope the counts rise quickly again." He received a blood transfusion, and an allergic reaction surfaced as a side effect.
After that, Cha Hyun-seung repeated hospitalizations and transfusions. Especially when he turned the camera on again, Cha Hyun-seung trembled and said, "It's Nov. 12 and I think it's just beginning. I felt chills so I checked my temperature and it was 38 degrees. It's starting now. Yesterday my (neutrophils) fell to 3 and today's interim result is 10. Still, I'm somewhat used to it."
He continued, "I suddenly have severe chills and I'm waiting for a fever reducer. My counts fell lower than yesterday so they told me not to do anything. This time seems especially hard. It's the third consecutive day of chills. All three days," and finally, because his condition was so poor, even his mother, his caregiver, visited the hospital. Cha Hyun-seung expressed his distress, saying, "I'm sorry for causing you emotional and physical pain."
Cha Hyun-seung worried, "Starting the red blood transfusion. They made a hole in the back of my hand for the CT. Something new was attached. I can't eat so they're giving nutrition through an IV. I felt okay for about two hours and then the chills started again. This one isn't easy," but fortunately after a while his neutrophil count rose and his condition improved. Cha Hyun-seung said, "It's finally rising. Fortunately the fever came down a bit, and the counts are slowly going up," and added, "My immune count rose a lot so I was moved to a general ward. I'm not far from discharge. The first thing I did after leaving the sterile room was go to the convenience store in the outer ward because you can go there. I just love that there's a window," showing a positive attitude.
Meanwhile, Cha Hyun-seung announced in September that he was battling leukemia and has received many people's support.
