Beauty YouTuber Lee Sa-bae belatedly confessed to having a double-eyelid revision surgery.
On the 20th, a video titled "I returned with new eyes: sharing my double-eyelid story and a laid-back-but-stylish makeup that flooded my Instagram DMs" was uploaded to Lee Sa-bae's YouTube channel.
That day Lee Sa-bae introduced, "Today I'll show a laid-back-but-stylish makeup that naturally enhances facial features. I roughly did my hair too. Isn't this vibe nice? I learned that the hair should be a bit tousled; I did it like this and it just looked like it had a vibe."
She then drew attention by opening with, "Ah, everyone. Not you, honey? Do I look any different?" Lee Sa-bae said, "This is the first time I've said something like this," and added, "Why don't you know? Why don't people notice? I didn't intend to deceive anyone; if even one person had noticed, I would have revealed it right away, but no one noticed. You probably still don't know, right? For about one or two years I've kept saying this needed touch-up, and I went to get my eyes touched up."
After finishing her makeup, Lee Sa-bae explained the details. She said, "First, my double eyelids had very little definition for a long time and desperately needed a touch-up. I always wanted to do it but never had time, so this Chuseok was my last chance. I told the surgeon that, 'This is really my last chance, so I must do it now.' I found the place through internet searches. I didn't ask acquaintances; I searched alone for a clinic specializing in eye surgery, where the director personally consults, and with extensive surgical experience. The clinic wasn't large but was long-established and had mostly good reviews. I heard they keep results long-lasting and firm. I felt very favorable about it, had a consultation, and decided after sensing the director's gaze and the aura of a master."
She continued, "Actually I did it right after the 'Just Makeup' production presentation. And it's been a month now. Anyway, I think it turned out really well. When I had it done before, I walked out and my mom asked if I had anything done because it looked no different, so I imagined that and went in again. But when I woke up I looked like someone who had been badly beaten at a boxing match. I thought, this is a big problem. I had to be on a broadcast in 10 days — what should I do? When I stood up I was so shocked that I bought a walking pad that same day and started preparing in every way. I drank pumpkin juice and ate pumpkin porridge, kept hydrated, and iced all day. It felt so distant," she said, expressing her distress.
When asked what worked best to reduce swelling, Lee Sa-bae said, "Walking. I thought the walking pad helped, but walking outside against the breeze seemed best. I went to cypress forests a lot. I even went to two cypress forests in one day saying, 'Mom, let's go to the cypress forest.' Walking while getting phytoncide seemed to reduce swelling quickly. I tried walking once and that evening was different. So I went again the next day and recommend it. The major swelling lasted about a week, and I felt a clear improvement around one and a half to two weeks. My broadcast was in 10 days, and the swelling hadn't gone down by the seventh day. Then around the eighth or ninth day it reduced a lot, so fortunately I was able to cover it well on the 10th day."
She also said, "The doctor said that pinching now is the last chance given my age and my eyes' condition. This was the last pinching." She joked, "Next time I'll show you an incision. If I ever need it next time," drawing laughter.
She said the thing she is most satisfied with is, "When my double eyelids were somewhat hooded, the inner eye glow on the upper part wasn't slightly visible. It was covered. Now the upper part of my eye shines, doesn't it? I'm so glad I found my inner eye glow. For a while it was so covered that it wasn't visible unless I opened my eyes wide. If my field of vision used to show this much, now it shows this much. I feel like my old eye feeling is back, so I think it was a good decision. I'm not encouraging plastic surgery, but if a touch-up is needed, I think it's fine. Thank you, doctor," she said, expressing satisfaction.
