The Sixth Sense cast fell for the production team's elaborate scheme.
The April 20 episode of tvN Sixth Sense: City Tour 2 (directed by Jeong Chul-min and Park Sang-eun), episode 4, began the hunt for hidden fakes among Incheon hot spots, and the production team's limitless planning astonished viewers by creating another fake store to deceive the Sixth Sense cast and even infiltrating guest Chu's daily life.
On the city tour themed "Eccentrics of the Incheon seashore" with guests Kim Dong-hyun and Chu, the Sixth Sense cast's instincts were triggered from the first location, "Pig embracing an egg." Although it was a grill restaurant, the interior lacked the smell of meat, the lid looked brand new, and the name lacked the famous pollack roe samgyeopsal, which raised suspicions. But the ecstatic taste of samgyeopsal aged with low-salt white pollack roe convinced them it was real, and Mimi even showed a genuine reaction, saying, "The umami is crazy. It runs wild in my mouth."
At the second location, the "idol-obsessed monkfish" shop, a suspicious vibe was detected as soon as they entered because there was a photo of Incheon-born entertainer Ji Sang-ryeol. Moreover, the course looked suspiciously perfect, as if touched by a chef, with rose monkfish stew topped with solid cream sauce, monkfish fries and even tiramisu. In addition, Mimi, who thought she had seen a rose monkfish stew before, took a cautious stance, remembering that algorithms had been manipulated last season.
At the final stop, the "white-face-filled mulhoe" shop, when Ji Seok-jin guessed mulhoe made with dongchimi, Chu said she had eaten mulhoe made with dongchimi broth in another region, intensifying confusion over whether this was the production team's prior work or a coincidence. The mulhoe here was also a white mulhoe made with dongchimi broth and a half-and-half mulhoe, but the flavor and the scale of the production team's possible prior work to deceive Chu lent weight to the possibility that it might be real.
In the end, Ji Seok-jin, who won rock-paper-scissors, chose the "idol-obsessed monkfish" as his final pick, but the fake turned out to be the "white-face-filled mulhoe." The production team had gone to the restaurant after seeing an online post by a daughter who wanted to help her father, who runs a raw fish restaurant, and they persuaded the owner in person. Korea kimchi master Park Mi-hee developed the white mulhoe broth using dongchimi broth.
It did not end there. To deceive the guest's experience, one of the three major missions, the production team mapped Chu's living area and rented a raw fish restaurant in Eunpyeong District, Seoul, creating a second branch identical to the Incheon restaurant. With the help of the Fresh off the Sea producer, they arranged for Chu to taste the white mulhoe at the second branch, revealing the full story and shocking everyone, and Chu herself said, "My head hurts so much," overwhelmed by the shock and leaving an all-time twist.
Airing at an unimaginable scale with unpredictable developments that double the fun, tvN Sixth Sense: City Tour 2 is broadcast every Thursday at 8:40 p.m.
