Actor Song Ji-hyo addressed allegations about her father's debt controversy.
On the 21st, NAMSAN (Lim, Chung & Suh), the legal representative of Song Ji-hyo's agency Nexus E&M, said, "Recently Nexus E&M received an email mentioning matters related to the father of our agency's actor Song Ji-hyo. The email raised suspicions that the company run by Song Ji-hyo's father is in a state of debt default and, along with an inquiry letter, attached materials such as a banner design reading "famous entertainer parent, known on TV for the passenger ferry business."
Song Ji-hyo's side pointed out, "Sending such a banner design, which goes beyond a simple inquiry, can be interpreted as an act intended to post that banner in front of Nexus E&M to damage Song Ji-hyo's honor and image and furthermore to obstruct the company's normal business activities."
They continued, "Such acts are criminal offenses that can be punished. The court has ruled that even if a warning of harm to the other party is part of exercising rights, it becomes punishable when the warning of harm is not socially acceptable under social customs or ethical norms or does not constitute a reasonable means for a legitimate purpose. In light of this judicial stance, Nexus E&M judges that attaching the above materials and sending them to Nexus E&M, which is not even Song Ji-hyo's father, amounts to a clear criminal act that exceeds what society can tolerate."
Song Ji-hyo's side added, "Nexus E&M has no intention of tolerating any form of threats, pressure, or unjust acts that infringe on its actor's honor and personal rights or the company's normal business activities, and if identical or similar illegal acts are repeated in the future, it will exercise all possible legal measures, such as criminal complaints and claims for damages, as quickly and strictly as possible."
Meanwhile, Song Ji-hyo said on entertainment programs that her parents ran a passenger business in Tongyeong. Regarding the theory that she is in the top five of celebrity silver spoons, she explained, "That's my mother and father's retirement money. They used to run a shabu-shabu restaurant, but now they run a ferry business going to Yokji."
