YouTuber Wonji issued a third apology over controversy about a poor office.
On the 21st, YouTuber Wonji posted a third apology on her YouTube channel post saying, "I sincerely apologize regarding the office working environment."
Wonji said, "Since the video was released, I have taken the many criticisms left about the office environment very seriously," and bowed her head, saying, "Because it is a space where employees spend time every day and must work, I should have prioritized the working environment and welfare above all else, but as an employer my consideration and thinking were terribly lacking."
She continued, "My fault was that I made a complacent judgment in finding and starting the office," and reflected, "If subscribers had not pointed it out, I am ashamed to think that I might have continued to force sacrifices on the employees."
She also said, "Taking this incident as an opportunity, I will immediately communicate with the employees and take measures to transfer the office to a pleasant and larger environment," and added, "From now on, as an employer I will act with responsibility and pay closer attention to my surroundings."
Earlier, on the 20th, Wonji posted a video titled "looking for a 6-pyong office" on her YouTube channel. The released video showed the interior conditions as they were, including basement level 2 · no windows · about a 6-pyong space where three employees worked, and immediately after its release strong criticism followed online such as, "For a million-subscriber YouTuber this is too poor," "Isn't this a black company?", and "prison level."
When the controversy erupted, Wonji posted a first apology the same day and made the video private. She said, "From the video alone the overall ventilation system or building structure may not have been sufficiently conveyed and it may have been perceived differently than reality," and explained, "Although there are no windows, I judged it to be a place designed to circulate air through the building's ventilation system."
Even after that apology criticism continued, so Wonji posted a second apology saying, "The building as a whole has an atrium structure that is open from basement level 2 up to the sky, so it felt less claustrophobic.
