BOYNEXTDOOR won the new artist award at Japan's most prestigious awards ceremony.
BOYNEXTDOOR was selected as the new artist award winner at the "67th Japan Record Awards" announced on the 21st. This award is given to an artist, domestic or foreign, who has shown outstanding activity locally during the year and is recognized for their future potential. BOYNEXTDOOR proved that its activities in Japan were successful by clinching the new artist award.
Through their agency KOZ Entertainment Co., BOYNEXTDOOR said, "We are truly honored to receive such a valuable award. After debuting in Japan last year and continuing our first solo tour this year, we once again felt how much we are loved by many people. We will work hard to show even more growth going forward, so please watch over us warmly."
BOYNEXTDOOR drew attention for their active local activities this year. Their second Japanese single released in August, "BOYLIFE," sold about 346,000 copies in its first week according to Oricon and topped two weekly charts (tracking period: Aug. 18–24). The album received the Recording Industry Association of Japan's Gold Disc "Platinum" certification in September. Recently, they released the single "SAY CHEESE!" in collaboration with the popular animation "Tom and Jerry," drawing attention.
Their records released in Korea also resonated locally. The fourth mini album "No Genre" and the fifth mini album "The Action" received the Recording Industry Association of Japan Gold Disc "Gold" certification. Their first solo tour, "BOYNEXTDOOR TOUR 'KNOCK ON Vol.1' IN JAPAN," was also carried out successfully. Including encore performances, it took place 13 times across six Japanese cities and sold out every show, proving their local popularity.
Meanwhile, BOYNEXTDOOR was listed in the lineup for the largest local year-end festival "COUNTDOWN JAPAN 25/26," held at Makuhari Messe in Tokyo from Dec. 27 to 31. They are scheduled to take the stage on the first day and are expected to heat up the venue.
