Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey said he has faced financial difficulties after sex scandals and admitted he is effectively "homeless" now.
Spacey told The Telegraph of Britain in a recent interview, "Right now I'm living between hotels and Airbnbs. I move to wherever the work is," and added, "I literally have no home." He acknowledged that his financial situation "is not very good," but added, "I'm not on the verge of bankruptcy."
He lamented, "Over the past seven years, far more money has gone out than has come in. The expenses were truly astronomical."
Since 2017, more than 30 men, including Anthony Rapp of Star Trek: Discovery, accused Spacey of sexual assault and inappropriate behavior, and as a result he was effectively ousted from the Netflix hit House of Cards. The series ended in 2018 with Robin Wright taking over the lead.
Spacey faced trial in Britain on charges of sexually assaulting four men but was acquitted in July 2023, and he was found not liable in a civil lawsuit brought in New York in 2022. Still, he repeatedly emphasized that "the expenses and aftershocks of the past seven years have been enormous."
He said, "Strangely, I feel like I've gone back to the beginning again. I go wherever there's work like I did before," and added, "All my belongings are in storage. If the situation improves a bit, I want to decide where to settle."
Spacey also countered additional allegations raised in this year's documentary Spacey Unmasked, saying, "I will no longer remain silent about false or exaggerated stories."
In an interview he said, "I will take responsibility for my past actions. But I cannot apologize for fabricated stories or exaggerated claims," and he strongly insisted, "I never offered to help someone's career in exchange for sexual favors."
Spacey has recently been gradually returning to activity, receiving a lifetime achievement award in Cannes, France, and performing at a resort in Limassol, Cyprus, as he seeks a comeback.
