Balladeer Kyuhyun returns.
Kyuhyun releases the EP "The Classic" today (20th) at 6 p.m. on various music sites. It contains five of Kyuhyun's signature ballads that showcase his "ballad strategy."
The title track "Like the first snow" depicts the poignant memory of a love that seeped in like the first snow, melted and disappeared. It is characterized by expressing the beginning and end of love through the flow of the seasons — the excitement of spring, the passion of summer, the familiarity of autumn and the farewell of winter. As the seasons cycle through and emotions unfold like a panorama, Kyuhyun's vocals gradually rise over lyrical melodies to deliver the essence of a heartbreaking ballad.
The music video released with the track sensually depicts nostalgia made more vivid because there is no returning. It is expected to maximize immersion by capturing the universal sentiment of memories with a first love — something anyone can relate to — in Kyuhyun's restrained yet delicate sensibility.
In addition, "The Classic" unfolds five lyrical scenes of love: "Nap," which swallows a lonely aftertaste at the sight of an unexpectedly recalled beloved face; "Goodbye, My Friend," quietly bidding farewell to a love ending alone; "Living in memories," which depicts traces vividly engraved in every place love passed with a detailed gaze; and "Compass," which dramatically captures the overwhelming feelings that ultimately reach one another.
"The Classic" is Kyuhyun's new album released about a year after the full-length album "COLORS," which he released in November last year. Made up of ballads that evoke a classical sensibility, Kyuhyun precisely expresses the emotional line of each song to fully convey the inherent aesthetics of the ballad. In addition to his sweet vocals and dense emotional expression, Kyuhyun is expected to lift the dignity of the ballad and leave a deep aftertaste with a refined sound that focuses on the natural tones of instruments such as piano, guitar and strings.
Along with the EP release, Kyuhyun will hold a solo concert, 2025 Kyuhyun (KYUHYUN) Concert "The Classic," for three days from Dec. 19 to 21 at Olympic Hall, Olympic Park, Songpa District, Seoul. The concert, held under the same name as the EP, sold out all seats within five minutes of tickets opening, demonstrating Kyuhyun's strong ticket power. Kyuhyun plans to color the end of the year with rich melodies alongside an orchestra.
