"Dynamite Kiss" The eye-contact ending between Jang Ki-yong and Ahn Eun-jin caused viewers' hearts to stop.
According to ratings firm Nielsen Korea, the Nov. 19 broadcast of SBS's Wednesday-Thursday drama "Dynamite Kiss" (written by Ha Yoon-a and Tae Kyung-min / directed by Kim Jae-hyun and Kim Hyun-woo / produced by Studio S, Samhwa Networks) episode 3 recorded a metropolitan area rating of 5.6% and a national rating of 5.3%, setting a personal best and firmly holding the No. 1 spot among weekday dramas across all channels. The peak momentary rating soared to as high as 6.8%, and the key channel competitiveness metric, the 2049 rating, also recorded a momentary peak of 2.04%. From its first week on air, "Dynamite Kiss," which elicited explosive reactions domestically and abroad, rode a clear upward trend and began a full-fledged hit run.
In this episode, the couple who shared a "catastrophic-level" kiss, Gong Ji-hyeok (played by Jang Ki-yong) and Go Da-rim (played by Ahn Eun-jin), reunited as head of team and team member. While Gong Ji-hyeok, who was "stylishly perfect," brought laughs and thrills with a rom-com full of reversals, the ending in which the two protagonists who hid their true feelings make eye contact made viewers' hearts drop.
That day Go Da-rim overcame her interview trauma and entered the hiring interview for the Mother TF team at a baby products company. But Gong Ji-hyeok, who had been the interviewer just moments before, had already left the interview room. Unaware that Gong Ji-hyeok had been there, Go Da-rim pretended to be a mother and gave her best in the interview. As a result, Go Da-rim passed the final round and earned a chance to work as a member of the Mother TF team for six months.
But the joy of joining the company was short-lived. From her first day at work, Go Da-rim's company life quickly went awry. Gong Ji-hyeok, the summer-fling from Jeju, appeared as head of the Mother TF team. Gong Ji-hyeok and Go Da-rim were embarrassed to encounter each other in an unexpected place. In particular, Gong Ji-hyeok was shocked after firmly mistaking Go Da-rim for a mother and a married woman. He demanded that Go Da-rim submit her resignation, but Go Da-rim, thinking of her sick mother, resolved to hang on somehow.
In the end Gong Ji-hyeok put his plan to get Go Da-rim to quit into action. He made Go Da-rim do experimental work that required staying up for five nights alone. Still concerned about Go Da-rim, Gong Ji-hyeok rushed over at dawn when her work report was delayed. His intention was to find fault and fire her. But when he arrived at the lab, Go Da-rim was nowhere to be seen. Instead, the place was ablaze.
Gong Ji-hyeok thought Go Da-rim was in danger and tried to jump into the fire. Then Go Da-rim appeared. Gong Ji-hyeok, without realizing it, grabbed Go Da-rim and said, "Thank God." He couldn't hide his feelings for Go Da-rim even though he tried to act otherwise. While Gong Ji-hyeok turned away coldly, Go Da-rim found the four-leaf clover she had given him in Jeju on Gong Ji-hyeok's phone. From the next day, Gong Ji-hyeok did not come to the office.
Meanwhile, rumors circulated at the company that Gong Ji-hyeok was the chairman's son and that the Mother TF team would be dissolved after six months. Go Da-rim boosted the downcast Mother TF team and finished the assigned experimental work. Go Da-rim brought the report that Mother TF team members had completed after several all-nighters to Gong Ji-hyeok. He was cold again. Even though Go Da-rim knelt, he even scattered the report she had brought into the swimming pool.
Desperate more than anyone, Go Da-rim, who can't swim, jumped into the pool without hesitation. She began to flail. Seeing this, Gong Ji-hyeok also plunged into the water to save her. Gong Ji-hyeok once again rescued Go Da-rim, and Go Da-rim, cradled in Gong Ji-hyeok's arms, and though both hid their true feelings, their eyes reflected feelings of "love." It was truly a thrilling, heart-pounding ending to episode 3.
Episode 3 marked the start of Gong Ji-hyeok's full-fledged fumbling romance. Jang Ki-yong and Ahn Eun-jin's lively performances left viewers with no moment of boredom. Jang Ki-yong charmingly portrayed love that he tried to hide but that surfaced unexpectedly, stirring female viewers' hearts. Ahn Eun-jin added credibility to the character with her deep performance and drew viewers' support. It was 60 minutes of alternating thrills and laughs, truly a dopamine-filled hour.
