Actress Kim Do-yeon broke free from the limitations of being a former girl group member and seized a Blue Dragon Film Award trophy.
On the 19th, the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards took place at KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul. The event was co-hosted again this year by actress Han Ji-min and Lee Je-hoon.
The newcomer actress award went to Kim Do-yeon for Ameba Girls and School Ghost Story: Opening Ceremony. It was a moment that recognized the effort of continuing her career from project girl group I.O.I to acting. Coincidentally, Kim Min-ju, who was also nominated, was a fellow I.O.I member, which added meaning. Remembering this, Kim Do-yeon began to cry immediately after the award announcement.
She expressed her gratitude, saying, "Thank you so much to director Kim Min-ha for creating a lovely and spirited film. Whenever I see the director, I always feel pure love and passion, and watching that always gave me strength. Thank you so much to representative Park Se-jun for bringing our film out into the world. We had to shoot a lot of scenes in a very short time in winter, and I'm so grateful to the staff who always created a good atmosphere with smiling faces, and to the actors who were with us. Thank you to the audience who watched our film a lot. Thank you to the teacher who first made me discover the joy of acting; when I couldn't believe in myself, the teacher believed in me the most. That is why I was really able to do it with strength. I hope I can be a strength to the teacher as well. To my beloved family, I am so, so happy to have been born as my parents' daughter. Thank you so much to the Fantagio family who always support me closely and take care of me," she said, expressing her gratitude.
Kim Do-yeon continued, "I debuted as an idol. Many fans liked seeing me sing and dance on stage then, and I'm so grateful that those fans continue to cheer for the me who is acting now. I thought awards wouldn't mean much to me, but receiving this made me wonder whether I wanted this recognition, and I think this award will be a great strength for my future acting. Thank you very much. I will think and reflect more, but I want to be a person and an actor who does not hesitate. Thank you," she said, smiling broadly and bowing her head.
