Actor Park Ji-hyun shed tears after winning the Blue Dragon Film Awards supporting actress prize.
On the 19th, the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards took place at KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul. The event was co-hosted by actors Han Ji-min and Lee Je-hoon for the second consecutive year.
The supporting actress award, announced amid the shouts of Lee Sang-hee and Kang Tae-oh, went to Park Ji-hyun for Hidden Face. Park Ji-hyun beat stiff competition from senior performers including Yeom Hye-ran for No Other Choice, Shin Hyun-bin for Face, Jeon Yeo-been for The Devil's Night, and Lee Jung-eun for My Daughter is a Zombie, so she appeared overwhelmed and, apparently having not expected the award at all, could not stop her astonished remarks.
Park Ji-hyun choked up, saying, "I didn't expect to win. When this work led to nominations elsewhere I prepared a little, but I didn't prepare at all this time so I'm very nervous. Thank you to the director who trusted me with the role of Miju, thank you to actress Jo Yeo-jung who acted with me and saw me as Miju, and thank you to senior actor Song Seung-heon."
In the end she showed tears and said, "I came here seven years ago as a newcomer nominee for the film Gonjiam. Back then I knew nothing and was too amazed and busy watching. But today there are people here I know, and I am happy to be present as they receive awards and celebrate their works," drawing an emotional response.
Park Ji-hyun added, "Receiving an award like this feels like being at a festival. I thought I was an actor who didn't crave awards, but now that I've received one I feel ambition. I will continue to be an actor who can win awards," adding meaningfully, and she added warmly, "Dad, mom, older sister, younger sibling, thank you so much and I loved you, no, I love you.
