JYP Entertainment–signed girl group NiziU released their third Japanese studio album New Emotion today (19).
The new album New Emotion is NiziU's first studio album in about two years and four months since their July 2023 second studio album COCONUT and features 14 tracks including the title track ♡Emotion (Love Emotion).
The title track ♡Emotion is a song that sings the emotions of the digital age depicting the process of approaching someone you like through social media; after the song and music video were pre-released on the 17th of last month, it has been gaining popularity by resonating with Gen Z.
In addition, new songs such as Come On Over, That's Me, Tip-Top, and Happy day, as well as six previously released fan-favorite songs—YOAKE, Shining day, RISE UP, BELIEVE, LOVE LINE (Japanese ver.), and 만약이라는 건 없어 (What if) (Japanese ver.)—are also included.
In particular, the inclusion of unit songs that members themselves participated in writing adds a special touch. The unit song VILLAIN by Mako, Mayuka, and Rima expresses charismatic charm in a dark atmosphere; the unit song Too much by Rio, Maiya, and Nina highlights a confident, bold attitude; and Riku, Ayaka, and Miihi's Fairy Magic is a lovely song about turning into fairies and casting spells on people who are worried.
Recently NiziU have been successfully conducting their new tour NiziU Live with U 2025 "NEW EMOTION : Face to Face" across 21 Japanese cities and 23 venues for a total of 32 performances. They have completed 30 shows in 21 cities so far, and on the coming weekend will conclude the tour at Tokyo Budokan, the "sacred site" of Japanese performances.
The performance on the 22nd will be live-streamed online and shown via live viewing in movie theaters across Japan, and the final performance on the 23rd will also be available via live viewing in movie theaters across Japan as well as in six overseas cities—Seoul, Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, and Bangkok—raising further anticipation.
NiziU, who will mark their fifth anniversary since their official Japanese debut on Dec. 2, will broaden their fan base and further brighten their presence with diverse activities.
