Girl group KATSEYE set another meaningful milestone on the world's largest music platform, Spotify.
According to HYBE and Geffen Records, the combined cumulative streams of the five tracks on KATSEYE's second EP "BEAUTIFUL CHAOS" surpassed 1 billion plays on Spotify as of the 14th. It has been 141 days since the album was released.
Now entering their second year since debut, KATSEYE has rapidly expanded its global fandom and emerged as a "streaming powerhouse." Their Spotify monthly listeners were 33,401,675 (Oct. 13–Nov. 9). That figure ranks first, exceeding the monthly listeners of all girl groups aggregated for the same period.
"BEAUTIFUL CHAOS" is an album in which KATSEYE expresses the beautiful chaos they encountered as artists through their own perspective and sensibility. The bond and growth the six members from various nationalities and backgrounds have steadily built are embedded in the five tracks "Gnarly," "Gabriela," "Gameboy," "Mean Girls," and "M.I.A." The album includes a variety of genres from hyper pop to dance pop, contemporary R&B and electronic pop, proving KATSEYE's broad musical spectrum.
KATSEYE, who performed across festivals, awards shows and advertising this year, has shown a strong presence on several major global charts including Spotify. "BEAUTIFUL CHAOS" debuted at No. 4 on the U.S. Billboard 200 (July 12), and the track "Gabriela" achieved the group's highest position on the Hot 100 at No. 33 (Nov. 8). The song also showed strong staying power, reaching No. 38 on the U.K. Official Charts (Oct. 18) and No. 10 on Spotify's Weekly Top Songs Global (Oct. 3).
Born from Bang Si-hyuk chairman's "K-pop methodology," KATSEYE debuted in the U.S. last June after going through HYBE America's training and development (T&D) system. Currently on their first solo North American tour, they were nominated for Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 68th Grammy Awards, to be held Feb. 1 next year.
