Singer Jeon In-kwon revealed on YouTube the behind-the-scenes story of how his signature song "Turning, Turning, Turning" was born.
On the 17th, the YouTube channel "Zzanbro Shin Dong-yup" released a video featuring Jeon In-kwon and comedian Kim Jun-hyun as guests.
That day, Jeon In-kwon said, "Turning, Turning, Turning is a story that came out when I first ended up going to prison," adding, "Eleven people slept in one room together, and each charge was different, and their jobs were all over the map."
Jeon In-kwon said, "There was a guy who looked so suspicious you couldn't tell what he did, so I asked, 'What's your job?' and he said, 'I'm a thief.'" He continued, "Then he said, 'I have skills, so I don't do robberies,' and that surprised me."
As Jeon In-kwon's release drew near, he even told him, "When you get out, I'll give you my home address, so try robbing it. My house is laid out so you have to take everything at once as you go up. You can't take just one or two things," and said they made a promise.
The thief Jeon In-kwon met in prison reportedly did steal valuables from Jeon's home after being released. Jeon said, "From the amp to a good turntable, he took everything without leaving a single thing," adding, "He even left a note that said, 'Brother! I'm taking everything.'"
He then explained that he thought deeply about how "we live different lives in the same time, and people can be this different," and that this experience became the starting point for the lyrics of "Turning, Turning, Turning."
Meanwhile, Jeon In-kwon was arrested in 1987 along with Kim Hyun-sik and Heo Sung-uk on charges of smoking marijuana. He was punished five times on charges including drug use.
