Actor Nana subdued an armed intruder in her home, and legal circles called it a "very unusual case" while advising that "victims themselves are not recommended to fight back."
On the morning of the 15th at 6 a.m., a man in his 30s identified as A entered Nana's home (Acheon-dong, Guri, Gyeonggi) armed with a blade and demanded money and valuables from Nana and her mother. After a fierce struggle with her mother, Nana subdued A and immediately reported the incident to the police. In the process, Nana and her mother were injured, and A was arrested at the scene.
On the 17th, lawyer Park Seong-bae, appearing on YTN, said "It is rare for a woman to subdue an armed robber," and added that "it appears Nana and her mother responded actively in a very dangerous situation."
He emphasized, "Although Nana is known to hold a fourth-degree special combat martial arts certificate, in ordinary situations victims are not advised to fight back," and said, "A realistic response is to comply with the robber's demands to some extent, then immediately call the police so it leads to an early arrest."
On legal issues he said, "Since the intrusion into a residence was for the purpose of seizing money and valuables while carrying a weapon, attempted special robbery is clear," and analyzed, "If the victim was injured during the struggle, there is a high possibility that robbery causing injury will be applied. It will be difficult to avoid a heavy sentence."
According to the police, A surveyed the surroundings, saw a door that was not locked, and entered, and he had no prior acquaintance with Nana.
During police questioning, A reportedly said, "I did not know it was a celebrity's house. I committed the crime because I lacked living expenses." On the 16th, the Uijeongbu District Court Namyangju Branch issued an arrest warrant for A, saying, "There is a risk of flight."
Nana and her mother are currently receiving treatment, and both have regained consciousness.<
