Actor Kang Hye-won has been cast as Park Rin in the Japanese drama "Falling in love at first bite" and takes her first step into global acting.
The drama "Falling in love at first bite" is a pure love story in which the genuine feelings of two people, confused by cultural and value differences between Japan and Korea but drawn to each other, deeply touch the heart.
In the drama, Kang Hye-won will play Park Rin, a graduate student who went to Japan to study abroad, and portray the facets of a character who moves toward her dreams amid the hardships of reality.
Especially, Park Rin is a character who, having gone abroad to study animation, conflicts between the everyday reality and her future dreams yet lives diligently every day. Through Kang Hye-won's lovely charm and atmosphere, the character's aspects are expected to be drawn in a multifaceted way.
Kang Hye-won will work with Japanese actor Akaso Eiji, who has struck the global market with a wide range of performances across genres such as the films "About a Place in Kinki Province" and "366 Days."
Akaso Eiji plays a character who was once a promising marathon ace but, after experiencing setbacks and spending listless days, falls in love with Park Rin and begins to seriously reconsider his life. Attention is focusing on the special chemistry he will create with Kang Hye-won.
The Japanese drama "Falling in love at first bite" side evaluated Kang Hye-won by saying, "She has shown her presence as an actor in numerous Korean dramas," and asked audiences to look forward to it, saying, "This is her first appearance in a Japanese terrestrial drama, but she is communicating with staff from both Korea and Japan and is handling many Japanese lines."
Kang Hye-won also said, "I could relate well because all the protagonists share the common trait of 'moving toward their dreams'," and gave her thoughts on appearing, saying, "There are many attractive characters and many points that can resonate, so please look forward to it."
Previously, Kang Hye-won captured viewers by convincingly portraying characters through dramas such as "Friendly Rivalry", "Player 2: The War of Gamblers", "Boyhood" and "Youth Blossom", and she is expected to show a new transformation in a Japanese drama as well.
Meanwhile, the Japanese drama "Falling in love at first bite", in which Kang Hye-won appears, will air from Jan. 12, every Monday at 11:06 p.m., and will be released simultaneously on the streaming platform Netflix.
