Actor Ye Ji-won shared a difficult episode while filming the movie "Florence."
The 18th broadcast of KBS1's Morning Garden Tuesday guest seat featured lead actors Kim Min-jong and Ye Ji-won from the movie "Florence" (director Lee Chang-yeol), which won three awards at a Hollywood film festival, as guests.
On the day, Ye Ji-won said, "There are rumors that actress Ye Ji-won had a scene that was very difficult while filming," and revealed, "The director gave me two fairly tough assignments. He gave me Italian and a salpuri" which drew attention.
She said, "It was my first time with Italian, and he gave me a poem by Lorenzo de' Medici as lines. One and a half months before filming. I had majored in Korean dance in the past, but suddenly, one and a half months before, he told me to perform the most difficult salpuri."
Kim Min-jong also shook his head, saying, "That was extreme," and Ye Ji-won recounted the situation, "Korean dance was about 20 seconds. Do a performance. Then I said I would do seungmu. Seungmu is difficult too, but I tried to persuade for two weeks, saying, 'How about expressing it a few times with long hems like a jangsam?' but it didn't work. He told me to do salpuri."
Kim Min-jong said, "Out of respect I call her Actress Ye. If not Actress Ye, no one could have handled it," and Ye Ji-won lamented, "I visited master teachers, and when I said Korean dance would be included in the film in Florence, the teachers gave me three very good choreographies. Each over a minute. I gave them to the director and he liked them so much he said he'd use them all. That became seven minutes. So to do that in one and a half months, I should have brought three teachers with me."
Anchor Um Ji-in asked, "Local tourists probably saw it while filming, right?" and Ye Ji-won replied, "When you shoot a full shot the camera is away, right? Local tourists, seeing no camera, probably thought it was a performance. Maybe they thought a shaman was doing a salpuri or a ritual." She added, "I didn't know, but afterward I was told they applauded."
