Actor Shin Moon-seong's protean acting trajectory is dazzling.
This second half of the year Shin Moon-seong is unveiling a new face across genres, starting with the Netflix series "Trigger." In the drama A Hundred Memories, a retro-melodrama that received much love, Shin Moon-seong played the owner of the boxing gym attended by Jae-pil (Heo Nam-jun) and, as a mentor to actor Heo Nam-jun, delivered a cheerful chemistry that prompted warm smiles. In addition, in Ms. Incognito he appeared as Kim Gyo-bong, the stepfather of Kim Young-ran (Jeon Yeo-bin), bringing a chilling tension that made viewers hold their breath just by his presence, and in the film First Ride he left a warm impression as the father of Yeon-min (Cha Eun-woo), the "handsome guy."
Meanwhile, in the TVING original Dear X, which premiered on the 6th, he left a stronger impression playing Police Inspector Park Dae-ho. Dae-ho visited Baek A-jin (Kim Yoo-jung)'s hospital room to investigate the murder of her father Baek Seon-gyu (Bae Soo-bin) and, while sympathizing with A-jin, expressed anger at the domestic violence. That lasted only a moment; Dae-ho soon revealed his true colors, accepting bribes and removing Choi Jeong-ho (Kim Ji-hoon), the owner of the part-time shop where A-jin worked and previously identified as a suspect, from the investigation. He abruptly changed his stance, claiming A-jin was the perpetrator, and revealed the corrupt side of the police by leaking information to reporters to sensationalize the case.
Later, after A-jin was arrested and faced Dae-ho in the interrogation room, a tense battle of nerves pushed the tension to its peak. When A-jin said everything was just a detective's suspicion, Dae-ho shot back, "Ms. Baek A-jin's statements so far don't match. Can you call this a suspicion?" and continued to apply pressure with calm composure. After A-jin's tip led to an internal investigation into his bribery charges, he used slippery cunning to escape. When he again faced A-jin in the interrogation room, he showed an obsession to make her appear guilty by any means. But after being disciplined for taking bribes, he pursued A-jin, now a top star, making threatening calls and showing a vengeful resolve that further heightened the drama's urgency.
With a weighty presence that deepened immersion, Shin Moon-seong continues to transform his acting based on seasoned skill. Moving smoothly between the screen and the small screen, Shin Moon-seong has established himself as an actor audiences trust. Having meticulously completed the texture of each character and left a deep impression in every work, eyes are on what project he will come to the public with next.
