Comedian Kim Su-yong suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed during a YouTube shoot and was rushed to the hospital. As news came that Kim Su-yong, who had been in critical condition, regained breathing and consciousness after medical staff intervened, many breathed a sigh of relief, and attention has turned to his prodromal symptoms.
His agency, Media Lab Siso, said on the 16th, "Mr. Kim Su-yong received treatment and regained consciousness. He is currently resting and recovering," and added, "We will do our best for a speedy recovery."
Kim Su-yong collapsed on the 14th while filming YouTube content in Gapyeong County, Gyeonggi Province. Fire and ambulance crews immediately dispatched to the scene performed emergency care including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and he was urgently taken to the emergency room at Guri Hanyang University Hospital. At the time he had no breathing or consciousness and was in critical condition, but rapid action by medical staff restored his consciousness and he is now being treated and resting in the intensive care unit.
Meanwhile, online communities have raised the possibility of a "prodromal symptom." Some claimed that recent photos of Kim Su-yong showed a deep diagonal crease on his earlobe. Some internet users linked this to the feature commonly called "Frank's sign."
Frank's sign was mentioned in overseas studies as a diagonal earlobe crease that may be associated with the possibility of cardiovascular disease, but the medical community has not clearly established a direct causal relationship.
One internet user shared an experience, "My father complained of chest tightness, and when we checked we found a diagonal crease on his earlobe; at the hospital they discovered a blocked coronary artery and he immediately underwent a stent procedure," which drew more interest. However, no correlation has been confirmed between the sign and Kim Su-yong's fainting, and Kim Su-yong's side has not made any particular comment, so the matter remains speculative.
