Yoon Kye-sang and Jin Seon-kyu reunited after 8 years, surpassing Jang Chen and Wi Sung-lac.
On the 17th at the Pullman Ambassador Seoul East in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, the Coupang Play X Genie TV original series Heroes Next Door press conference was held. The event was attended by Yoon Kye-sang, Jin Seon-kyu, Kim Ji-hyun, Go Kyu-pil, Lee Jeong-ha, and director Jo Woong.
Coupang Play·Genie TV original series "Heroes Next Door" (written by Ban Gi-ri and Kim Sang-yoon, directed by Jo Woong) is a delightful and thrilling story of a reserve special forces unit who came together not to protect the country nor out of any interest in world peace, but solely for their families and their neighborhood.
First, Yoon Kye-sang plays Choi Kang, an ordinary insurance investigator known as "the guy who didn't go to the military" despite having served in a special operations unit. Jin Seon-kyu appears as Gwak Byung-nam, a former counterterrorism unit member who now runs a hardware store and stationery shop and serves as the youth association president of Changri-dong.
In particular, Yoon Kye-sang and Jin Seon-kyu reunited for the first time in 8 years since the film The Outlaws. Yoon Kye-sang expressed affection, saying, "This time it's stronger. The chemistry is better. I don't know. I like Seon-kyu hyung so much. I respect him as a person and as an actor. Because of that, I can't tell if it's good for that reason or if our chemistry is fate."
Then Jin Seon-kyu recalled, "(I think) it's close to fate. It feels like a perfect pair. We didn't worry alone but did it together, and like during The Outlaws, when each person was cast we met and did readings and talked and practiced from about a month and a half before. We spent that time exactly like we did during The Outlaws and built it up. So on set it flowed so well that people would say, 'How did this come together so well?'"
He then joked, "Back then I was under Jang Chen, and now as the youth association president, we're on equal footing."
