Actors Lee Jang-woo and Ham Eun-jung, who teamed up as a virtual couple on MBC's Our Marriage, shared candid stories about marriage as they prepare to hold wedding ceremonies one week apart in November.
On the 16th, Ham Eun-jung's YouTube channel posted a video titled "We (separately) got married (feat. friendship couple Lee Jang-woo) | Ham Eun-jung EP.11".
Lee Jang-woo and Ham Eun-jung appeared together as a virtual couple on Our Marriage in 2011, and that day the two revisited the jokbal restaurant they had visited when they first met on the show 14 years ago and shared their feelings ahead of their weddings.
The two exchanged wedding invitations and congratulatory remarks. Lee Jang-woo expressed his fandom about Ham Eun-jung's husband Kim Byung-woo, saying, "I'm such a fan of that director. When I first saw that director's movie I thought, this person is a genius, he's crazy. I watched a lot of it."
Lee Jang-woo began, "I know you. You're not the type to have a grand wedding, are you? We aren't," and Ham Eun-jung replied, "No, we do it grandly. Both oppa and I," drawing laughter.
Lee Jang-woo complained, "We're not that kind of people, so I want to find who made all these things that say you have to do everything grandly. This wedding system. Who made the wedding-invitation gatherings? Let's find out — there must be someone who made it first," and Ham Eun-jung sympathized, "Oppa and I spend that money for the guests."
Lee Jang-woo said, "There are more invitation gatherings now. It's drinking every day. There's one at lunch, and again at dinner," and Ham Eun-jung advised, "You can't lose weight. Get help," but Lee Jang-woo replied, "Things like Wegovy. Personality-wise (it doesn't suit me)."
Recalling when he was surprised to hear about Ham Eun-jung's wedding, Lee Jang-woo said, "An article came out that you were getting married and my mother told me. I was working and she said, 'Hey, Eun-jung is getting married.' I said, 'No, Mom, that's not true. Eun-jung is busy filming a drama, how would she be getting married?' Then she insisted, 'No, she is getting married,' so I checked and it was you."
He continued, "At first it seemed like you and the director weren't matching well. I thought, 'Ah, this is wrong.' Then I wondered, 'Did she get pregnant?' Didn't I talk to you about this? I felt like if she hadn't gotten pregnant it wouldn't be the right timing. Suddenly getting married now? I thought. So my mother said, 'Eun-jung must be pregnant. She's supposed to be filming a drama, what will happen,' and we talked about it for a long time. I called you and asked, 'What did you do?' and you said, 'No, I'm just doing this,' so I doubted it for a long time even though you said it wasn't true."
Ham Eun-jung said, "That blessing hasn't come quickly yet. From next week I start filming a new drama, and I'll shoot until June and July next year. So I thought I can't delay this year, I have to go this year. It was chaotic. The drama team too. But if we delay more, really... And when you're going to have a baby they say do it quickly, don't they? I'm also an older mother," she said.
Ham Eun-jung said her husband suits her well, adding, "For me, the real part of marriage starts after the wedding, but the feeling of running so hard for the ceremony is somewhat exhausting. Fortunately, oppa and I agreed on the rings. We said let's just get them when the time comes. The moment we went to look for rings together, didn't the news about our marriage get out? Our article said I chose the ring that day."
Meanwhile, Lee Jang-woo will hold his wedding with actress Jo Hye-won on the 23rd. The two met and grew their love through the KBS2 drama The Only One for Me broadcast in 2019, and after overcoming an eight-year age difference and seven years of dating, they are tying the knot.
Ham Eun-jung will wed film director Kim Byung-woo on the 30th. OSEN's reporting found the two met through a film industry acquaintance gathering and developed into a romantic relationship, and the wedding will be held privately with only close family and friends from both sides invited.
