Group NewJeans members Min-ji·Hanni·Danielle are holding individual meetings with ADOR, and former ADOR chief Min Hee-jin once again emphasized the importance of the "five-member whole." However, among internet users there has also been a chilly reaction to Min's second statement, which included the message "do not drag the members into it."
On the 15th, lawyer Noh Young-hee hosted a live broadcast about NewJeans on her personal channel, during which the lengthy statement Min Hee-jin delivered in real time was made public.
Min said, "From the beginning NewJeans was designed on the premise of five. The structure was complete when five people fit together in appearance, sound, color, style and movement," and added, "NewJeans is full when it is five. Now that the kids are back, these five should be treasured."
She also added, "The essence may be aimed at me, but I hope the kids are not dragged into that process. The kids should be protected and not used," warning against unnecessary external interpretations and controversies about the members.
Currently NewJeans is showing clear differences in tempo in each member's return process. On the 12th ADOR announced officially that Haerin and Hye-in had expressed their intent to honor their exclusive contracts and return. The two had been steadily exchanging opinions with the agency for about a week, and their return was achieved through a natural agreement.
But just two hours later, Min-ji·Hanni·Danielle issued a separate statement through their legal representative saying, "We will also return to ADOR," and the situation changed rapidly. The problem was that this statement was a "one-sided notification" that had not been coordinated with the agency in advance. ADOR immediately said it was "checking the sincerity and arranging individual meetings" and is responding cautiously.
Min-ji·Hanni·Danielle are preparing for meetings, and whether they will officially return is expected to be clarified after discussions.
Meanwhile, public opinion on Min's second statement is mixed. Many say they understand the intent of "respecting the complete group," but reflecting on the conflicts and disputes surrounding NewJeans over the past period, a considerable number of internet users tilt their heads at some expressions as "not relatable." On online communities reactions continued such as, "who mentioned it first," "I wish it had been like this from the start," "that's what fans and the public wanted from the beginning," and "we were alive last year too."
