KBS2 "The Boss Has Donkey Ears" (directed by Ahn Sang-eun / hereafter "The Boss") is a program of voluntary role reversal and self-reflection by Korea's bosses to create workplaces where people want to work. In the last episode it recorded a peak viewership rating of 6.7%, continuing its 179-week run as the No. 1 variety show in its time slot. (Nielsen Korea)
On the episode airing on the 16th, "The Boss" episode 331 depicts chef Jeong Ji-seon, who had been criticized by people such as Jun Hyun-moo for not offering jajang or jjamppong, formally taking on the jjamppong menu.
Before taking on the jjamppong dish, Jeong Ji-seon heads to Gunsan's jjamppong hotspot and says, "It's not Jun Hyun-moo's plan but Jeong Ji-seon's plan," targeting the food show Jun Hyun-moo is hosting. Watching this, Jun Hyun-moo says, "I'm planless. Jeong Ji-seon has plans for everything," and declares defeat to Jeong Ji-seon's ambition, drawing laughter.
After Gunsan, Jeong Ji-seon visits a Chinese restaurant in Gimje and meets master chef Ahn Yoo-sung, who claims to be "Jeong Ji-seon's broadcasting mentor," leading to an unexpected war of words. In response to Ahn Yoo-sung's claim, Jeong Ji-seon rebuts, "I grew up on my own," then disses Ahn Yoo-sung's presence, saying, "I don't remember Ahn Yoo-sung being on a cooking survival show."
The fiery exchange between the two leads to a jjamppong battle. When Ahn Yoo-sung says, "This is master chef–style jjamppong," and brings out a white jjamppong based on premium Korean beef, known as hanwoo, bone broth and the paprika kimchi that Jun Hyun-moo praised, Jeong Ji-seon fires up his competitive spirit, dissing Jun Hyun-moo's taste by saying, "Hyun-moo hyungnim doesn't know good taste." Jeong Ji-seon, convinced "if I do jjamppong it'll be a hit," declares a challenge with a red jjamppong full of seafood and spicy smoky flavor.
Whether chef Jeong Ji-seon, who has not offered a jjamppong menu until now, can add a new jjamppong as his signature dish will be revealed on the main broadcast of "The Boss."
