'House on Wheels - Beyond the Ocean: Hokkaido' actor Seong Dong-il could not hide his surprise at the record-breaking premium melon gift.
On the afternoon of the 16th, tvN's 'House on Wheels - Beyond the Ocean' aired, where Seong Dong-il, Kim Hee-won and Jang Na-ra toured various places in Furano and Biei in Hokkaido with Ji Seung-hyun and Kim Jun-han.
The owner of the delivery box that arrived in front of the "Badaljip" was a gift from Seong-jin, a produce wholesaler whom the members had previously met at a tuna auction market. Inside the delivery box, along with corn and potatoes, were two melons: a Yubari melon and a Furano melon.
Seong Dong-il especially held up the Yubari melon and said, "This is a really expensive gift. The really expensive ones go up to 20 million won," surprising everyone. Yubari melons are a specialty of the Yubari region in Japan, treated as top-tier gift fruit and known as a "premium product similar to ginseng."
At Seong Dong-il's explanation, actor Kim Hee-won immediately reacted realistically, saying, "Why is the markup so extreme?" which drew big laughs on the set. But Seong Dong-il soon added, "This may not be as much as 20 million won, but it's a really expensive, precious gift," and sincerely thanked Seong-jin, who sent the package.
