Kang Tae-oh and Kim Se-jeong's red thread at last touched.
On Oct. 15 (Sat), episode 4 of the MBC Friday-Saturday drama Moon River (written by Jo Seung-hee / directed by Lee Dong-hyun / planned by Kwon Seong-chang / produced by High Jeum Studio) aired, and as the fate rooted in the hearts of Lee Gang (played by Kang Tae-oh) and Park Dal-yi (played by Kim Se-jeong) reached each other, the two souls swapped in a shocking ending that captured attention. In particular, the soul-change ending between Lee Gang and Park Dal-yi rose to a peak of 5.5% per minute, leaving a strong impression. (Nielsen Korea)
Even as the wounded Lee Gang went to Hanyang with Park Dal-yi, attacks aimed at the crown prince continued, heightening tension. This was because Kim Woo-hee (played by Hong Soo-joo), the daughter of left councilor Kim Han-cheol (played by Jin Goo), who heard that Lee Gang was alive, conspired with the grand queen dowager's faction member Do Seung-ji Han Seok-won (played by Ji Il-joo) to make Lee Un (played by Lee Shin-young) the crown prince. Knowing that if he died everyone could be in danger, Lee Gang struggled to survive.
Thanks to the protection of Left Wing Commander Oh Shin-won (played by Kwon Joo-seok), who returned to guard Lee Gang, and the help of Park Dal-yi, who is known throughout Paldo Co., Lee Gang was able to reach Hanyang safely. Upon arriving at the palace, Lee Gang immediately quelled the chaos and repaid Park Dal-yi, who saved him, with a large reward.
Dressed beautifully in the silk clothes and jewelry Lee Gang sent, Park Dal-yi enjoyed the luxury she had never experienced before, wearing a bright smile as she savored her happiness. In addition, the long-awaited gukbap date between Lee Gang and Park Dal-yi took place, delighting viewers. Especially after finishing the gukbap, Lee Gang grabbed Park Dal-yi, who said goodbye, and told her to stay and watch the falling-flower show, hinting that he was enjoying being with her.
But the peaceful moment was short-lived. When Park Dal-yi got caught up in needless commotion, the warm relationship between Lee Gang and Park Dal-yi turned cold in an instant. Seeing Park Dal-yi humiliated with a face resembling the deceased crown princess, Lee Gang's painful remark wounded Park Dal-yi's heart.
To make matters worse, as the two grew more conflicted, Kim Woo-hee intervened and the situation became more serious. Kim Woo-hee accused Park Dal-yi of being a traitor and aimed a blade at her, and Lee Un stepped in to stop her. Blood soon flowed from Park Dal-yi's neck, and noticing Lee Un's affection, Lee Gang quietly clenched the blade and cast a cold look at Kim Woo-hee, creating a heavy tension.
After the situation was resolved for the time being, Park Dal-yi scolded Lee Gang, who barged in and exploded in anger at her, saying, "That's not it. At times like this you say you're sorry." Park Dal-yi's steadfast eyes, saying the same words once said by Kang Yeon-wol (played by Kim Se-jeong), stirred feelings in Lee Gang and broke his resolve that this would be their last meeting.
Then the scar of the red thread on Park Dal-yi's wrist caused pain and began to glow. Startled, the two fell into the river, and as their blood mixed with the river water, the red thread that had been broken between them began to reconnect.
Soon after, Lee Gang and Park Dal-yi regained consciousness only to find their souls awakened in strange bodies, delivering a shock. For some reason, Lee Gang and Park Dal-yi's souls had swapped. With Lee Gang's cry, "As crown prince, switching bodies with a lowly straw-bag porter is a heavenly punishment," and Park Dal-yi's panicked reaction, viewers are left wondering what happened to the two.
The role-reversal romance between the dethroned crown prince Kang Tae-oh and the crown prince Kim Se-jeong continues every Friday and Saturday at 9:40 p.m. on Moon River.
