Soccer player Jesse Lingard drew attention after confessing that he has a daughter even though he is not married.
On the 14th episode of the MBC variety show I Live Alone, Lingard's single life was revealed. That day he started his day by reading an encouraging message written on a chalkboard as soon as he woke up. "I try to start each morning positively. Today, too, I am grateful to have achieved my dream of being a professional soccer player," he said, sharing a sincere routine.
Soon after, Lingard picked up his phone and made a video call. His 6-year-old daughter Hope appeared on the screen. When Lingard saw his daughter he beamed and asked about her warmly, revealing his doting father side.
When Kian84, who was watching, asked, "You haven't married?", Lingard answered honestly, "I haven't. I'm single."
A surprised Kian84 asked again, "Is this a return? (Are you divorced?)", and Lingard laughed and said, "It's common in Europe." Kian84 added an explanation of European family culture, saying, "They agreed to have a child together but chose not to marry."
In an interview Lingard said, "I talk with my daughter regularly every day. The time difference is eight to nine hours, so it was hard at first, but I'm used to it now," and added, "Even if I lose a match or am having a hard time, hearing my daughter's voice makes me forget it all."
