Broadcaster Hong Jin Kyung explained on 'Pinkgego' about the 'red knit' SNS post that became controversial during the presidential election.
On the morning of the 15th, on the YouTube channel 'DdeunDdeun', Yoo Jae-suk met with Ji Seok-jin, Hong Jin Kyung, and Cho Sae-ho and opened a talk called 'the fake life.'
In this context, Hong Jin Kyung answered Yoo Jae-suk's greeting of "How have you been" with silence, drawing laughter. In fact, during this year's presidential election period she posted a 'red knit' photo on SNS and was suspected of showing political bias, and she also confessed to a divorce, which drew sympathy. In response, Hong Jin Kyung laughed and confessed her recent status, saying, "I'll tell everything."
Hong Jin Kyung began, "Didn't I suggest opening a snack shop in the U.S. before? That had progressed a bit. But the U.S. is the U.S., and there were no pioneering companies in northern Europe, so it was important. Right now non-Korean people are making kimchi messily and selling it. Since this is the most important time, I thought I should preserve the image well and looked for someone to help me."
He continued, "He is Finnish and is the head of a really big advertising company in northern Europe. His name is Samuel. He has many major clients, so he could be a big partner to include our food. But even if I offered shares of my company, he showed no interest. That person happened to come to Korea on a trip with his family, so I invited them to my home and served kimchi, mandu, japchae, and jeon that I wanted to sell in northern Europe."
Hong Jin Kyung said, "But their daughter liked K content. Because I know many singers, there were a lot of K-pop goods at the house, and there was a singer the daughter liked, so I gave her one, and the child cried tears like chicken droppings. When the child cried, the mother cried, and when the mother cried, Samuel cried too. And that day Samuel asked me to be a partner," she revealed, causing surprise.
He went on, "Samuel works fast. He told me to fly to northern Europe, and I met an enormous number of people starting in Helsinki. It was a time when I was concentrating only on work. After all that work, we finally arrived in Stockholm. As soon as we got there, I relaxed. About 150 meters from my lodging was my favorite brand. There was a very pretty red sweater there. The red was radiant, so I wore it and took a photo," and he explained the situation at the time, saying, "The election? I didn't think about it at all. Hong Jin Kyung eventually said, "I excitedly posted the photo. It turned out the date was important. I posted it on SNS and then just slept. But because I had interviewed all three presidential candidates and left, it became a bigger issue. When I woke up in the morning, birds were chirping, but when I opened my eyes I felt strangely dirty. My heart was pounding. It was really strange," drawing peals of laughter. Yoo Jae-suk added, "The bird was talking. 'This is no time to sleep like this; unless you're crazy, how can you sleep like this?'" which added to the laughter.
She continued jokingly, "When I turned on my phone, I had about 80 missed calls. There were 300 text messages and KakaoTalk messages, and 100 of those were from him (Cho Sae-ho)." In response, Cho Sae-ho chimed in, "At that time in Korea a PD asked in our group chat in the morning, 'Who can call Jinkyung nuna?' We checked SNS and the comments were already increasing rapidly. Later we even discussed among ourselves finding out her hotel name. We had to quickly contain the situation."
Hong Jin Kyung said calmly, "At first people were like 'maybe?' but as articles poured out and I didn't delete the post, they interpreted it as 'what conviction.' So I wrote a remorse note on the spot and posted it. If I had even 0.1% of intent, it would have been really scary, but it wasn't, so I thought it would be resolved someday." Yoo Jae-suk defended her, saying, "Time has passed, so Jinkyung can talk about it like this now."
