Singer DinDin complained about the troubles he has faced after becoming known as a "sensible celebrity" for his candid remarks criticizing celebrities' sense of money.
On the 14th, a piece of content titled 'DinDin joins Workman' was released on the YouTube channel "Workman." Lee Jun and DinDin, who became "Workman" MCs, revealed the aftermath of his pointed remarks, drawing attention.
On "Workman," DinDin said he was thankful that the remarks from the show became a topic of conversation, but added, "The problem because of that is that at some point the 'sensible celebrity' label was put on me. Wherever I go people are like, 'Please say something wise. Please give a sharp rebuke,' but when did I ever give a sharp rebuke? It was just picking a fight," he said.
He added with a laugh about the popularity at the time, "PPL offers flooded my personal YouTube channel. But that enthusiasm didn't even last two weeks."
DinDin said, "To be honest, I didn't think that 'Workman' would blow up because of me; I just went because Jun hyung said he'd do it."
Lee Jun also chimed in, "What I couldn't understand was that it's even more so on '2 Days & 1 Night.' It's a public broadcaster, so there's a lot of editing. He didn't even do anything as extreme as he usually does with me, and nothing was shown," he said.
DinDin said, "I can do the job without lines, but Jun hyung is an MC, so inevitably if he keeps talking people can say foolish things; I think that's unavoidable. So there were many chances for me to say something back. If he approached work seriously he wouldn't do that. He's not stupid," he said. He added that although Lee Jun enjoyed the strong reaction to the content, he also sent a message saying he 'wanted to die,' which drew attention.
In an earlier 'Workman' video released in August, DinDin worked with Lee Jun as part-time staff at a low-cost franchise coffee brand. At the time, Lee Jun nonstop made all kinds of drinks like cup bingsoo and coffee and asked an actual employee, "Aren't you making a lot now? Aren't you bringing in 10 million won a month?"
The actual employee was embarrassed, and DinDin snapped, "This is the problem with celebrities. They have no sense of the value of money. Driving supercars, sleeping in Jenny's bed, they're out of their minds," he said. That remark became a topic of conversation, and DinDin said the 'sensible celebrity' frame was placed on him.
Afterward, DinDin, who criticized celebrities' sense of money, drew attention with his "sensible remarks" and "forthright remarks." He also appeared on Park Na-rae's YouTube show "Narae-sik" released last month, and while mentioning a gift for his niece he said, "I'm really curious: adult padded jackets and baby padded jackets use much less fabric but cost the same. Even if you put stuffing in, it would use one-third less," a remark that also caused a stir.
