Actor Son Ho-jun's story about his debut revealed on a past broadcast is receiving renewed attention, and recently, about two years later, sudden 'discord rumors' with his close friend Yunho have surfaced, drawing interest. However, looking into the details, it was, after all, a minor incident that could only occur between true friends.
Son Ho-jun appeared on the 2023 TV CHOSUN "Sikgaek Heo Yeong-man's Baekban Journey" and recalled the early days when he first started acting. He said, "I was active in a theater troupe in Gwangju since high school, and I came to Seoul for a bigger dream," revealing that he pursued acting without his parents' opposition. In particular, he expressed gratitude to hometown friend and lifelong companion Yunho, saying, "The person who first introduced a manager to me and told me about broadcast work at the time was Yunho."
When cartoonist Heo Yeong-man asked, "Did you become famous because of 'Reply 1994'?" he humbly answered, "I was lucky," and added that "acting is much more fun" than variety shows, drawing attention.
But recently, about two years later, a sudden 'discord rumor' was raised between Son Ho-jun and Yunho. The trigger was a preview clip of "My manager/secretary who is too picky for me" released on SBS's YouTube channel. In the clip, Son Ho-jun honestly revealed "things he was hurt by from Yunho," leading some fans to suspect something was amiss in their relationship.
In the video, Son Ho-jun shared an anecdote about shopping with Yunho in the past. He said, "I had decided which shoes to buy, so I bought them in five minutes. But Yunho took six to eight hours because he was going around buying clothes," and continued a playful revelation, "Yunho is very kind but lacks tact."
Then when Yunho mentioned, "You cooked seaweed soup for me but I forgot my birthday. You must have been hurt," Son Ho-jun replied, "That was a really big incident." He revealed his honest feelings, saying, "I'm usually the one to call first, but that time I deliberately didn't contact him. I waited thinking, 'He'll call sometime.'"
He especially made people laugh by saying, "I threw a birthday party for him and Yunho cried while eating seaweed soup. But I was hurt when there was no contact on my birthday the following year." Even Lee Seo-jin, who was listening nearby, was surprised and said, "Isn't this quite a big deal?"
In the end, this "discord rumor" proved to be merely a misunderstanding that arose because the two had been close for such a long time, and an episode born of the affection they have for each other among true friends.
