MBC Radio's 'Siseon Jipjung' presents a special marking the first anniversary of the insurrection.
On the night of Dec. 3 last year, about two and a half hours after martial law was declared, MBC Radio's Kim Jong-bae's 'Siseon Jipjung' (abbreviated as 'Siseon Jipjung') began an emergency YouTube live broadcast. In it, by consolidation with members of the National Assembly and experts, it reported real-time parliamentary developments and citizens' reactions, sharing the night of the insurrection that was impossible to predict.
And one year later, former President Yoon Suk-yeol is going through impeachment and is on trial on charges of leading the insurrection, and the exposed raw faces of our society during that process were shocking. Korea's democracy showed strong resilience, but the tasks our society must solve were numerous.
'Siseon Jipjung' will broadcast 'Siseon Jipjung special project on the first anniversary of the Dec. 3 martial law – meeting the people at the Dec. 3 scene' to mark the first anniversary of the Dec. 3 martial law. It will meet people who vividly witnessed the scene of the martial law and worked to return the country to normal, recording that day a year ago and checking current Korean society.
The broadcast will air in six parts beginning on the 16th, every Sunday at 7:05 a.m. The first guest is Kim Byung-joo, supreme council member of the Democratic Party of Korea. A former four-star general who was the first among then-active lawmakers to mention martial law and who played a prominent role in the truth-finding process, he will discuss military reform, the main perpetrator of the Dec. 3 martial law insurrection.
Following him will be Yun Geon-young of the Democratic Party of Korea, Kim Sang-wook of the Democratic Party of Korea, Jung Sung-guk of the People Power Party, former constitutional research officer Noh Hee-beom, former Ministry of Justice inspector Ryu Hyuk, and others, meeting one person each week to consider challenges in politics, prosecution and the judiciary, ultimately discussing the future of Korea's democracy.
'Siseon Jipjung' can be heard every morning at 7:05 a.m. on MBC Radio, Smart Radio mini, and the YouTube channel 'MBC Radio Sisa'.<
