The KBS 2TV Saturday-Sunday miniseries Last Summer (directed by Min Yeon-hong, written by Jeon Yu-ri), airing on the 15th and 16th, episodes 5 and 6, foreshadow an intriguing dynamic as an unexpected person appears before Baek Do-ha (played by Lee Jae-wook) and Song Ha-kyung (played by Choi Seong-eun).
Earlier, Do-ha and Ha-kyung cooperated with different agendas on a project to remodel the closed Patan High School into an observatory. The two were embarrassed by the late village chief Lee Jang's (played by Kim Ki-cheon) suggestion to decide support for the project by playing yutnori, but they soon played the game with the five village chiefs. The Do-ha–Ha-kyung team won dramatically, and in the process the two had an enjoyable time.
A photo released today (the 14th) ahead of episode 5 shows Ha-kyung's expression mixing surprise and wariness upon seeing someone who has come to the peanut house. The person who startled Ha-kyung is none other than Do-ha's longtime female friend from the United States, Yoon Sohui (played by Kwon Ah-reum). Sohui, who has maintained a long connection with Do-ha in the United States, has come to Korea for some reason. Ha-kyung feels a subtle tension as she watches Sohui warmly seek out Do-ha.
Meanwhile, the sight of Ha-kyung and Sohui sitting across from each other in a cafe and talking draws attention. An awkward atmosphere that cannot be explained in words hangs between Ha-kyung, who stares at Sohui with a stern expression, and Sohui, who displays a relaxed attitude.
In particular, Ha-kyung cannot hide her embarrassment at Sohui's blunt remarks during this meeting. The contrasting expressions of the tense Ha-kyung and Sohui's meaningful smile explode curiosity about what the two might have said to each other.
