Broadcaster Hong Jin Kyung said she has faced death three times.
On the 13th, a video titled "Where did Hong Jin Kyung, who developed bipolar disorder due to extreme stress, go to survive?" was posted on the channel "Study King Jin Genius Hong Jin Kyung."
In the video, Hong Jin Kyung headed to Tongyeong, South Gyeongsang, where YouTube producer Seok-ro PD and comedian-turned-writer Go Myung-hwan are staying.
When Seok-ro PD asked, "(Did Go Myung-hwan) have tremendous ups and downs in life?" Hong Jin Kyung answered, "After oppa survived a major car accident that nearly killed him, he became a different person. His insight broadened tremendously."
She added, "The doctor told Myung-hwan oppa to say his last words as soon as he opened his eyes after the accident. He said there was no way he could live. He told me that the moment he opened his eyes, he thought, 'I haven't done anything I wanted to do.' If there are people who casually ignore what they want, hearing oppa's story will resonate with them."
Hong Jin Kyung said, "I also escaped the brink of death three times." She said, "Once, I fell asleep in a hot jjimjilbang and almost slipped into a coma, the second was cancer, and the third was when Rael was little," recalling, "At the time (in Japan), I was about to step onto the roadway with Rael on my back, but I hesitated for one second. Strangely, my foot wouldn't move. Then I stepped out, and a car brushed past in front of me. If I hadn't hesitated, it would have hit me."
When Seok-ro PD asked, "You escaped death three times—what changed?" Hong Jin Kyung said, "Not much changed."
She then suddenly burst into tears. Seok-ro PD said, "This vlog should be about Hong Jin Kyung's depression," and Hong Jin Kyung cheerfully corrected him, saying, "Bipolar disorder, bipolar disorder," and pulled herself together.
Hong Jin Kyung married a businessman in 2003 and had a daughter, but in Aug. she shared news of their divorce. Recently on the YouTube channel "Runaway Jung Sun-hee," she said, "Only after Rael's dad and I became strangers did we truly regain our friendship."
