"Nice to Not Meet You" Lee Jung-jae has become viewers' annoying laugh button.
The recently airing tvN Monday-Tuesday drama "Nice to Not Meet You" (directed by Kim Ka-ram, written by Jeong Yeo-rang, planned and produced by Studio Dragon, Studio&New, Artist Company) is receiving intense reactions. It cheerfully portrays the fiery war of disses between nation-loved actor Im Hyun-joon (played by Lee Jung-jae), who has lost his original passion, and entertainment reporter Wi Jeong-shin (played by Lim Ji-yeon), who is obsessed with realizing justice, showcasing the essence of a different kind of comedy.
At the center is Lee Jung-jae, who successfully transformed into the cheerful and lively top star 'Im Hyun-joon.' Lee Jung-jae rose to the rank of nation-loved actor through "Good Detective Kang Pil-gu," but he perfectly embodied Im Hyun-joon, who dreams of a new leap, demonstrating his value as an actor people can trust. Above all, the sly and novel comic performance by Lee Jung-jae, which the cast and crew unanimously cited as the best viewing point even before the broadcast, proved effective. Lee Jung-jae delivered laugh-out-loud moments willing to be ridiculous every episode, becoming viewers' annoying laugh button.
Im Hyun-joon experienced the biggest crisis of his acting career, including the humiliation of a live nationwide underwear broadcast on the red carpet where a war of the stars unfolded, caused by the malicious karma-linked Wi Jeong-shin. His desperate "escape Kang Pil-gu" project, in which Im Hyun-joon strives to break free from being more familiar by the character name 'Kang Pil-gu' than by his own three-name identity 'Im Hyun-joon,' was somehow poignant and painfully funny. Lee Jung-jae's hard-carrying performance, dynamically portraying the sometimes sly and sometimes trivial aspects of top star Im Hyun-joon, raises expectations with each episode. After the broadcast, various social media and online communities have poured out enthusiastic responses such as "Why is Lee Jung-jae pushing himself so hard," "Lee Jung-jae seems to have found a perfect character," "It's so gratifying to see Lee Jung-jae doing light comic roles again after a long time," and "Comedy plus action, Lee Jung-jae's acting is like a comprehensive gift set."
In the previous broadcast, Im Hyun-joon, who had been searching for his next project instead of Kang Pil-gu, ultimately accepted his fate and confirmed his appearance in "Good Detective Kang Pil-gu season 5." However, the comeback of director Park Byung-gi (played by Jeon Seong-woo), who shared the nightmarelike film shoot, and the meaningfully appearing presence of Kwon Se-na (played by Oh Yeon-seo) foreshadowed that Kang Pil-gu's return would not be easy. In addition, Wi Jeong-shin learning that Kwon Se-na was present at the scene of a massive corruption case added tension and raised curiosity about future developments.
"Nice to Not Meet You" episode 5 will air on the 17th Monday at 8:50 p.m., and episode 6 will air on the 18th Tuesday at 10:10 p.m. due to a soccer broadcast. <
