Lee Jung-hyun reveals the behind-the-scenes story of returning as a singer after 10 years.
Today (14th) KBS 2TV variety show "Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant" will air a special day in the life of all-around goddess Lee Jung-hyun, who returned as a singer after a long hiatus. Lee Jung-hyun, who caused a sensation with her shocking 1999 debut song 'Wa' and instantly rose to fame as Korea's techno warrior. Lee Jung-hyun, who said "I always missed the stage," is expected to reveal everything about what preparations she made and what feelings she had to stand on stage again after 10 years.
In the VCR shown that day, Lee Jung-hyun was drawing something intently in a sketchbook. It turned out she was sketching stage costumes herself. Lee Jung-hyun appeared as a legend on another KBS 2TV variety show, "Immortal Songs," which aired on the 4th last month. Lee Jung-hyun said, "It feels like it's been 10 years since I stood on stage as a singer, since 2005's 'Infinite Challenge - Toto-ga,'" and confessed excitedly, "I always missed the stage."
From her 1999 debut song 'Wa,' Lee Jung-hyun conceived all concepts herself, including costumes and stages. Her performances are still filled with startlingly bold concepts. Lee Jung-hyun said, "I went to the market to buy all the fabrics to reproduce those costumes and I made them myself." She said she personally designed 15 costumes for not only herself but also the choreography team, and even sewed the props herself.
Finally, the filming day for "Immortal Songs." Preparing costumes, practicing songs and choreography, and even dieting 4kg, Lee Jung-hyun showed fiery fighting spirit and instantly transformed back into her 1999 techno warrior appearance. With a trembling heart, she stood on stage as a singer for the first time in 10 years. Lee Jung-hyun said, "My heart pounded with nervousness," and added, "Adult fans came to see me. I cried."
Daughter Seo-ah and Lee Jung-hyun's husband also saw 'singer Lee Jung-hyun' for the first time. Seo-ah laughed in surprise at her mother's transformed appearance. Her husband, too, was left speechless, seemingly enchanted by his wife Lee Jung-hyun's overwhelming charisma from rehearsal onward.
