'The Manipulated' hitmaker Ji Chang-wook has been holding the No. 1 spot day after day.
Disney+'s original series 'The Manipulated' (writer Oh Sang-ho / directors Park Shin-woo, Kim Chang-joo) ranked in the worldwide top 5 (on the 10th, provided by FlixPatrol), and Ji Chang-wook, the lead of 'The Manipulated', showcased exceptional brand power by rising to No. 1 in Good Data Corporation's FUNdex 1st week of November TV-OTT celebrity buzz rankings.
'The Manipulated', which has ranked No. 1 on Disney+ Korea for seven consecutive days since its release on the 5th, has captured viewers' hearts by ranking No. 1 on OTT content integrated search platform KinoLike's trend ranking and Good Data Corporation's FUNdex 1st week of November TV-OTT search response, among others.
Riding that momentum, the film 'Fabricated City (2017)', which shares the same universe, has also been making a comeback by climbing to No. 2 on various OTT platforms, continuing to generate buzz day after day. Through 'The Manipulated', Ji Chang-wook has again led a string of box-office hits after 'The Worst Evil' and 'Gangnam Bi-side', proving his presence as a trusted actor.
Meanwhile, in episodes 5-6 of 'The Manipulated', released on the 12th, Tae-jung, having failed to escape, is depicted taking part in a deadly racing event together with fellow inmates. As inmates, who will stop at nothing in the money-stake race, and Tae-jung, whose life is threatened at any moment, raise tension, the thrilling car-chase scenes deliver an electrifying catharsis that drew attention.
In particular, action master Ji Chang-wook's performance stood out. Having shown intense bare-handed action filled with blood, sweat and tears in episodes 1-4 set in a prison, Ji Chang-wook this time displayed a variety of action 'feats'—from exhilarating car-chase action to high-speed motorcycle action—further enhancing global fans' immersion. He also completed his first confrontation with Johan, imbued with subtle tension, with delicate acting, heightening curiosity about the showdown between the two going forward.
Ji Chang-wook's genre piece 'The Manipulated', racing hot toward revenge, will release episodes 7-8 on the 19th through Disney+, then two episodes every Wednesday thereafter, for a total of 12 episodes.
