'The Return of SUPERMAN' actor Shim Hyung-tak spent a special day with his son Haru, and former national fencing athlete Kim Jun-ho celebrated his wife's birthday.
On the 12th, KBS2TV variety show 'The Return of SUPERMAN' (hereafter 'The Return') featured Haru's first newborn haircut and a birthday party for Kim Jun-ho's wife, Yoo Jeong-hyun.
Shim Hyung-tak and Saya's son Haru drew attention for his unusually thick hair since birth. Shim Hyung-tak said, "Our Haru's hair grew a lot in the womb for 10 months and at birth," adding, "and now at 9 months old, we're going to cut his newborn hair for the first time."
Haru attracted public interest with a cute, handsome appearance—having his mother Saya's smiling eyes and Shim Hyung-tak's broad mouth—but he was more often the topic of conversation for his enormous hair giving him a lion-like look. Shim Hyung-tak said, "Director Lee Soon-chul is a first-generation scissorhand. I've been going here for seven years," as he headed to his regular hair salon. Director Lee Soon-chul expressed amazement, saying, "Haru's hair volume exceeds that of an adult. It's really incredible."
Following Director Lee Soon-chul's instructions, Shim Hyung-tak began the haircut holding Haru. Director Lee Soon-chul explained, "Usually we seat the baby in a chair to cut their hair, but newborns can't support their necks. So the mother and father wear gowns and hold the baby together while cutting the hair."
Haru's enormous hair was transformed into an idol-style haircut under Lee Soon-chul's hands. Director Lee Soon-chul repeatedly marveled, "This is the first baby I've seen who doesn't cry like this. Newborns usually cry and it's hard to cut their hair, but what do you call this? They deserve a Nobel Prize."
Shim Hyung-tak marveled anew at his son's looks, saying, "If he still looks this cute after a haircut, it wasn't the hair that made him attractive." He added, "I thought it was the hair until today, but after cutting it, it's not. He's just handsome. It's his face. I'll try more styles in the future."
Meanwhile, Kim Jun-ho planned an outing with his wife Yoo Jeong-hyun, who returned after a long flight. They headed to Incheon Chinatown, where Yoo, then a flight attendant, and Kim Jun-ho, who trained at the Jinchun athletes' village as a fencer, used to date.
Yoo Jeong-hyun recalled, "In the past, after flights at Incheon Airport, I would take my husband to the Jinchun athletes' village. It was a long distance, about 380 km. We dated like that for three years." She then saw the husband who had prepared a balloon gift for her. When the balloon was popped, what was inside was only bundles of 50,000 won bills.
Kim Jun-ho's gifts ranged from a handwritten letter to Yoo Jeong-hyun at Eun-woo's first birthday, a car he bought so she could travel comfortably during Jung-woo's pregnancy, to a luxury handbag when she returned to work four years after having two sons. This time he prepared cash, explaining it came from wanting his wife to buy what she needs. Yoo Jeong-hyun smiled happily, saying, "It's moving that the two of us came as a family of four, and I'm really grateful you prepared a birthday present, honey."
