Broadcaster Park Mi-seon revealed a shaved-head profile photo taken while battling breast cancer and conveyed positive energy.
On the 12th episode of tvN You Quiz on the Block, Park Mi-seon, who recently revealed she was fighting breast cancer and drew sympathy, appeared as a guest and shared that she has recovered her health.
On that day, Yoo Jae-seok, addressing Park Mi-seon as she recounted the time of her initial breast cancer diagnosis, said, "Even now, Park Mi-seon is talking like this, and we were very surprised when we read the article, and the family must have been very shocked," he said.
In response, Park Mi-seon opened up, "My family must have been shocked. I messaged my husband, 'I have cancer,' but there was no reply. He was shocked. I told him not to worry because it's early and it seems like surgery will solve it, but he said, 'It will be fine, it's early, it'll be okay,' and he seemed very surprised."
She said, "My family, including the kids, told my mother, 'Mom has cancer,' but she did not cry in front of me. If even one person cried, everyone would break down, so they held back and didn't cry. They just stayed bright. When I shaved my head and such, breast cancer chemotherapy almost 100% causes hair loss. So I cut my hair in advance. I hated losing my hair so I shaved it all off, and even when shaving my head I joked, 'Doesn't this look like Furiosa?' and had fun," she revealed, and in the subdued atmosphere she smiled and said, "It's okay to laugh."
Park Mi-seon said, "So I just enjoyed it and acted like it was nothing, and my family treated it like it was nothing too. Regarding the illness, it's not 'I'm going to die'; I talked about it very comfortably to others and treated it comfortably, so the people accepting it were able to accept it very comfortably."
She continued, "Everyone was just watching my cues. I had to act like I was fine so they would worry less. Even if I was in pain, I couldn't show it. Even if I wanted to cry, I couldn't cry freely. How upset would they be if I did that. So I cried while walking alone on a stroll. At those times I would tell myself, 'It's okay. It will get better,' and comfort myself a lot," she shared her private hardship, moving listeners.
She said, "Many women said they cried when they cut their hair. But it grew back. And I thought, when else will I try this hairstyle, so I very happily shaved (my head). I also took profile photos. A shaved-head look. 'When else will I try this?' I thought. Of course my daughter told me to do it, so I went, but I'm glad I took the photos. I wore a suit and took stylish photos," expressing satisfaction.
Also, the broadcast included the profile photos of Park Mi-seon taken immediately after her head was shaved, drawing attention. In the photos, Park Mi-seon, with a shaved head for chemotherapy, smiled brightly and tried not to lose her positive mindset, moving viewers to tears.
Meanwhile, Park Mi-seon abruptly stopped activities early this year, causing concern. At the time it was only reported that she was taking a break for health reasons, but soon after it was revealed that Park Mi-seon was battling breast cancer, shocking the public. She was diagnosed in the early stages of breast cancer through a health checkup and is undergoing treatment. She said she has completed 12 chemotherapy treatments and 16 radiation treatments and is continuing drug therapy.
