Actor Jung Woo-sung shared his thoughts as he prepares to return to work following a private life controversy.
On the 13th, the Cinderella Ballroom at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel Conference Center hosted the 2025 Disney+ APAC and global content presentation.
About 400 members of the press from around the world attended the event, and a total of 14 countries participated, including Korea, Japan, the United States, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Australia, Mexico and Brazil.
Notably, the event also unveiled a new lineup of Korean original content, and director Woo Min-ho and actors Hyun Bin, Jung Woo-sung and Woo Do-hwan of the "Made in Korea" team attended.
"Made in Korea" is a work that tells the story of Baek Ki-tae, who harbors ambitions for wealth and power in the turbulent 1970s, and prosecutor Jang Geon-young, who threw everything away to stop him, as they face a monumental 사건 that spans the era. Director Woo Min-ho directs, and the production company Hive Media Corp., which thrilled 10 million viewers with the film 12.12: The Day, produces it.
Last November, he became embroiled in a private life controversy when model Moon Gabi's son acknowledged that he was his biological child, and later drew attention again when it was revealed that he had registered his marriage with a longtime partner. At the time, Jung Woo-sung's side said they would do their best as the child's father and refrained from official activities for a while; he is now preparing his comeback work along with Hyun Bin.
Taking the stage, Jung Woo-sung appeared slimmer and explained his reason for joining the project: "It was actor Hyun Bin and actor Woo Do-hwan. Being able to act together as partners in a new work is a very precious and rare opportunity among actors. I thought this would be a project with such great fellow actors. When the director offered it to me, I thought this character wouldn't suit me. It's a character with more energy and boldness. As I read the script I felt there would be parts I could fill in for Jang Geon-young, so I mustered the courage to accept it," he said.
Jung Woo-sung also said, "In particular, this work puts fictional characters and fictional stories into real incidents of modern history. Usually, that would focus on the relationship between the person involved and the situation, but our work is a story based on historical facts that has the distinctiveness of showing human desire and inner life, so I think audiences will find it interesting," noting points of expectation.
Meanwhile, "Made in Korea" will release two episodes on Christmas Eve, two episodes on New Year's Eve, and the remaining two episodes on Jan. 7 and Jan. 14. Season 2 has also been contracted and is currently in production; season 2 is scheduled to be released exclusively on Disney+ in the second half of the year.
