'Radio Star' actor Ji Hyun-woo spoke about his life as an actor and said he is not dating anyone at all.
On the 12th episode of MBC variety show 'Radio Star', leading actors Ji Hyun-woo and Ivy from the musical 'Red Book' made grants. Ji Hyun-woo has been active again since winning the KBS Drama Awards the year before last, drawing attention once more.
He debuted with a band called 'The Nuts', but he became known when he played the PD who loved Ye Ji-won in KBS's 'Old Miss Diary'. After becoming a hit as the younger-man type, Ji Hyun-woo spent hectic days appearing across various broadcast media.
Ji Hyun-woo recalled, "After shooting 'Old Miss Diary', I did dramas, music show MCing, The Nuts activities, and every day I would read scripts in the car. I rose to fame as the younger-man character," adding, "I filmed with Song Hye-kyo and Kim Tae-hee," and "Fans called it 'noona instinct,' so those younger than me couldn't join," as he remembered the time.
But now Ji Hyun-woo says he is immersing himself in his work. It was reported that he has been living almost in the rehearsal room for his first musical appearance in 11 years. Ji Hyun-woo humbly said, "After all, Ivy is doing 'Red Book' for the third time, and the other actors are musical actors, so I have shortcomings. I'm trying to make it second nature," and Ivy said, "I even heard he showed up on the day they set up the stage." Ji Hyun-woo showed he was firmly preparing, saying, "It's different from acting for the camera, so because it's been a while I often went to the rehearsal room and basically lived there. Even if it wasn't my performance, I went to the rehearsal room."
Ivy said, "All the actors are serious, but Ji Hyun-woo is truly earnest. But Ji Hyun-woo is really unusual. Even on days when there's no call during the rehearsal schedule, he comes earlier than the staff and practices," adding, "He comes even on days he doesn't have a performance. On days when the actor in the double casting performs, he acts in his waiting room exactly at his timing. He does that every day," conveying Ji Hyun-woo's passion.
His passion was also evident during a film shoot with Go Doo-shim, who is 33 years his senior. Ji Hyun-woo was so immersed in a kissing scene with Go Doo-shim, who is called not just a senior but a teacher, that he called for another take. Hearing this, Ivy asked, "How early did you go to Jeju Island?"
In response, Ji Hyun-woo said, "For that film shoot I even lived in Jeju Island. I drove around alone without a manager." Everyone admired his acting passion when he said he visited the National Assembly library while preparing for an investigator role and observed assistant directors in the KBS directing office when preparing for a PD role.
Upon hearing this, Kim Gu-ra asked, "Wouldn't that make your girlfriend dislike it?" The question came because Ji Hyun-woo had revealed that if he didn't come to musical rehearsals he would go see the autumn leaves or hike Odaesan, implying he had no time for dating. Hearing this, Ji Hyun-woo said matter-of-factly, "After this, I just live without dating," making everyone laugh.
