A showdown between Korean and Japanese soccer legends who represented their eras, the teaser for 'Legend Korea-Japan Match' was suddenly released.
SBS' Shooting Stars spin-off program 'The Guys Who Score Goals - Legend Korea-Japan Match' (hereinafter 'Legend Korea-Japan Match') will premiere on Dec. 3 (Wed) at 10:20 p.m.
'Legend Korea-Japan Match' is a program in which 14 soccer legends representing Korea and Japan put on their national team uniforms again and compete in pride-driven 5-on-5 mini soccer matches. In the high-density matches played in tight spaces, dynamics and tension comparable to their active careers are expected to unfold.
The Korean team features legends who graced the World Cup and Olympic stages, including Park Ji-sung, Lee Young-pyo, Seol Ki-hyun, Lee Dong-gook, Lee Keun-ho, Park Joo-ho, Koo Ja-cheol and Kim Young-kwang, while the Japanese team fields era-defining stars such as Hidetoshi Nakata, Keisuke Honda, Masakiyo Maezono, Shoji Jo, Yuji Nakazawa, Hisato Sato, Yoichiro Kakitani and Yuta Minami. Both teams are made up of stars who carried their nations' destinies during their playing days, promising tension and immersion beyond a simple entertainment show, like an actual international match.
The newly released 'Legend Korea-Japan Match' teaser video begins with Koo Ja-cheol taking out the national team uniform again. Saying, "I don't know if it's there. I wasn't going to take it out again," he picks up the uniform from the dry cleaner and adds, "Luckily it's here." Later, with the uniform draped over his shoulder, he rides a bicycle humming 'For victory' and delivers a determined line, "You can't lose a Korea-Japan match. Let's go win," leaving a strong impression.
Then images of legends such as Lee Young-pyo, Seol Ki-hyun, Lee Dong-gook, Lee Keun-ho, Park Joo-ho and Kim Young-kwang appear in turn, and the phrase 'the legends return to the ground' heralds the start of the real contest. In the cookie video, Koo Ja-cheol is shown displeased with his own acting, drawing laughs.
At the teaser shoot, the seven legends tried on the national team uniforms they had stored for a long time in front of a mirror, and reportedly vowed to ensure victory in 'Legend Korea-Japan Match' with passion grown as much as their bodies have expanded since their playing days.
Meanwhile, SBS' Shooting Stars will go on season off for the month of December due to the scheduling of the Wednesday-Thursday drama Dynamite Kiss. To ease viewers' disappointment, the special program 'Legend Korea-Japan Match' will air for two weeks, and Shooting Stars is scheduled to resume regular broadcasting on Jan. 7 (Wed) next year.
The Guys Who Score Goals - Legend Korea-Japan Match, which will open a new chapter in soccer entertainment with the hottest Korea-Japan match of 2025, will premiere on SBS on Dec. 3 (Wed) at 10:20 p.m.
